After ten years with Canoe Ridge Vineyard and 13 years with Abeja, John Abbott (Canoe Ridge, Abeja) decided to leap into new terrain and create Devona. The one varietal that they are fascinated by, but haven’t gotten to work with extensively, is Pinot Noir. Because of their history in Washington State with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay and their fondness for these varietals, they continue to produce them, sourcing the fruit from their favourite sites: Bacchus, Dionysus, and regions, such as The Gorge. Most are vineyards that they have worked with for many, many years, although some are new explorations too.
