"Pusser’s ‘Gunpowder Proof’ is a traditional Royal Navy style rum produced at original Admiralty strength and in accordance with the Admiralty’s blending recipe last used when the Royal Navy discontinued its daily ration on 31 July 1970.
Gunpowder Proof: Prior to the invention of the hydrometer, the Royal Navy ship’s “Pusser” shutdown claims of watering down sailors’ daily tots by dousing a bit of gunpowder in the rum and attempting to light. If the mixture ignited, the rum was “at proof.” If it didn’t, the Pusser might find himself tossed to sea.
Pusser’s Rum is the only rum blended in exact accordance with the Royal Navy specifications last used when it discontinued its daily ration on July 31, 1970—ending a tradition that lasted over 300 years. Aged for a minimum of three years, this Admiralty rum blend is rich and full-bodied, with an unsurpassed smoothness due to its wooden “pot stilled” lineage."

This bottling takes the rum from Plantations excellent 3 Stars White Rum then gives it an infusion of pinapple rinds another distillation, then blends it with Plantation's Original Dark rum which has been infused with pinapple fruit. Bottled at 40% and out of this world good!

"Rum Nation Peruano is a very old rum produced in the Lambayeque region of northern Peru.
The molasses from which it is fermented comes from sugar cane plants grown in the region. The distillation takes place in an old Scottish column, in a distillery founded in the middle of the 20th century.
During the 8 years it took to age, the solera system allowed for the blending of several casks."
