Pinotage is a genetic cross of Cinsault and Pinot Noir that has found a home in South Africa. Meerendal Wine Estate is home to some of the oldest plantings of Pinotage in the world, with some vines dating back to 1955. The Meerendal Pinotage exhibits notes of juicy blackberries, dark cherries, cassis and dusty leather with a palate full of soft tannins, and a fruity and earthy finish.
Producer Tasting Note
"Meerendal Pinotage has an intense plum and chocolate nose, with cherry tobacco and cedar wood. The tannins are soft and well balanced. It has a full palate with an exceptionally long aftertaste. Excellent with venison, guinea fowl and anything South African."
