"Behold: a delicious, content-friendly, naturally 'grammable' and click-baitingly delicious Glen Grant. This bottling is a multi-vintage small batch edition created by mixing a 1995 refill barrel with a 1997 refill hogshead. The resulting 24 year old was bottled at natural cask strength of 49.8% and yielded just 443 bottles. It's a rather full-bodied, drier style Glen Grant. Lots of weighty distillate character, peppery warmth, soft waxy notes and oily citrus fruit flavours. Suitable for hipsters and posers. But also works exceptionally well for those who like quietly enjoying excellent highland malt whisky."

"Whisky Sponge Edition number 62 is a 28 year old, multi-vintage Glen Keith. It was created by mixing together a 1991 refill barrel and a 1993 refill hogshead. The 1991 barrel was softer and displayed more wood influence, whereas the 1993 refill hoggie was fresher, tarter and showed rather a lot of exotic fruits. The combination has worked extremely well, with the richness and maturity of the 91 balancing beautifully with the fruitiness of the 93. Overall it displays a mature, classical Speyside character with waxes, oils, preserved green and exotic fruits and light spicy notes. Dreamy whisky for escapism, relaxation and performative steampunk rituals. Please remember to wear goggles while enjoying this fine single malt, so as to catch the tears of joy as they roll down your cheeks."

"Whisky Sponge Edition No.65A is a 30 year old Glen Garioch 1991 bottled at natural cask strength of 41.4%. We don't normally like port influence in our whiskies, but this was an altogether different proposition. Matured for its initial 10 years in a refill hogshead, this whisky was then transferred to a 1st fill port barrique for a further 20 years of maturation - thus making it well and truly a proper double maturation. The robust Glen Garioch malt pairs very well with a rich, active, sticky sweet, unctuous and slightly tart port cask. The result is a mature, dark and luscious old single malt, at a naturally quaffable drinking strength and displaying many of the characteristics found in older style sherried malts with a lot of dark sticky fruit, chocolate and rancio qualities. A delicious and very silly whisky that should probably be enjoyed while wearing extremely comfortable slippers within a radius of no more than 10 meters of a modest log fire."

Rest & Be Thankful Bruichladdich 2004

You had us at ex-Bourbon.
There are definitely not enough cool expressions of Bruichladdich hitting our shores lately. And worse still, there are even fewer naked Laddies out there. (Those not draped in the richness of wine casks, that is.) Not that those ones can't be fun, but ex-Bourbon is where you really see the soul of a distillery. Fortunately, Bruichladdich really shines when left to its own devices. This is probably the most exciting of the recent R&BT range, but we should warn you that the outturn from barrel #1433 was a mere 154 bottles. They won't last long.
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 52.1% abv. Although it is not explicitly mentioned, there is a connection between Mark Reynier, and the Rest & Be Thankful Whisky Co. This link goes back to the days when Mark was the mastermind behind the scenes of Bruichladdich's revival, and it followed him to Ireland and the establishment of the Waterford Distillery. Are these Mark's personal casks? Could be...!

Lagavulin Distillers Edition 2022

It's a shame how scarce Lagavulin has become. The distillery just doesn't seem to have the stocks to keep the market wet at this point in time. Not to mention, we're not getting a lot of help from our local importers either. When the 2022 Distillers Edition showed up a few weeks back, we were quick to snap it up, because I think we all know by now that any Lagavulin is good Lagavulin.
This should be a particularly interesting version of the Distillers Edition; it's no longer the 16-year-old with a PX finish (read: almost 17 years), it's now a non-age-stated whisky with an undeclared finishing period. While that almost sounds like a bad thing, the reviews are better for this one than previous, older editions. Not to mention, for those that like their Islay malts to have a little more punching power, it's best to drink them a bit younger. The longer that liquid sits in those beautiful old warehouses, the softer the smoke becomes.
Shame about the 43%, but at this point, beggars can't be choosers.
