Boutique-y Blended Malt 1 Batch 3 18Year
$134.99
Region:Scotland > Speyside
Call it Balfiddich, Glenvenie or Burnside... when you teaspoon Balvenie, or any single malt for that matter, you can't refer to the distillery by name. Even if they say they teaspooned the cask, and actually didn't. Confused? This is basically Balvenie with possibly a drop of another single malt blended in (likely Glenfiddich or Kinninvie).
Producer Description: "Our third batch of this ‘teaspooned’ Speyside whisky is an 18 Year Old, a release of just 1,049 bottles at 47.3% abv. There are only five classifications allowed in Scotch Whisky; Single Malt, Single Grain, Blended Malt, Blended Grain, and Blended Scotch. ‘Teaspooning’ was introduced in the 1980’s by William Grant & Sons." (Andrew adds: "who happen to own Balvenie!")
About the Label (Larger Label Under the Tasting Note)
"Similar to our Blended Malt #3, and #4, this is hardly a blended malt at all. Our label shows a congregation of whisky enthusiasts honouring the spoon. They really love that spoon. It’s almost exclusively Speyside single malt from a very popular distilleries that’s been ‘teaspooned’ All hail the spoon!"
