Only a dozen bottles of this presumably sherried Glengoyne are coming to KWM. This is a single malt we don't often see bottled independently, which makes it a curiosity. Rocking an impressive 90.5pts on Whisky Base.
Producer Description: "Our second batch from the Glengoyne distillery is a 19 Year Old, a release of just 1,009 bottles at 50.9% abv."
About the Label (Larger Label Under the Tasting Note)
"Our label highlights the distillery straddling the A81, the road which officially demarcates Highlands from Lowlands and also the West Highland Way. The A81 road is made of hot coals due to fact that the name of the farm distillery was Burnfoot when founded in 1833."
500ml mlAndrew's Tasting Note
Nose: polished oak, new leather sofas, sweet dark chocolate and bright fruits; nutty sherry tones and dunnage warehouse notes; red berry fruits with some more subtle and elegant fruits beneath
Palate: rich, fruity and earthy with warming spice; a classic old school sherried Glengoyne; more leather, tobacco and sweet dark chocolate; the red berry fruits are there atop a base of firm spices; darker dried fruits and coffee beans, along with some mango and papaya; thick and syrupy with nutty sherry.
Finish: long and coating with more polished oak, spices and fruits: dried and red; the leather, tobacco and chocolate return towards the finale.
Comment: this is a old school sherried malt, exactly what you'd expect from a good Glengoyne cask(s); layered, complex and refined.
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: At first there’s cobnuts and pepper before sweeter notes of vanilla and freeze dried raspberries come through. There’s the richness and bitterness of dark cocoa nibs too.
Taste: Peppery spice fills the mouth before more of that vanilla arrives. There’s juicy tropical fruit flavours coming through with time.
Finish: The spiciness dies away to reveal creamy cereal notes and lingering vanilla flavours.

That Boutique-y Whisky Company (TBWC) is part of the Atom Group, which also owns the UK retailer Master of Malt and a number of other subsidiaries. They are a dynamic and innovative firm, who by example invented the Whisky Advent Calendar concept. Established in 2012, TBWC is famous for its playful and colourful labels, which often feature prominent whisky industry figures, tell a story, and or elude to an inside joke. The labels are typically laced with hidden elements and "Easter Eggs."
TBWC bottles whiskies from around the world, though the bulk of their offerings are of Scottish origin. Most of their offerings are small-batch releases, Blended Malts, and Blends. Their "Head of Whisky" is Canadian Sam Simmons.
We are big fans of not only their whimsical labels but also the consistently high standard of liquid they bottle.
