Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, it is relatively full-bodied with a wonderful strawberry colour and "ripe fruit aromas of strawberry, raspberry and hints of cranberry and citrus. The palate explodes with these same ripe berry flavours, complemented with oak nuances of vanilla and caramel," according to the winery team! "Summer in a bottle," they say, and you know, we agree! It was created in 1975 and produced its first vintage in 1979. Today, it consists of just 60 growers who own a total of 25 hectares of vines (18 ha in DOC). Its total production is around 8000 cases. Most of the grower-members farm organically. Their story began with Quintín Ortega in 1986. A humble figure with some good ideas and the determination to carry them out, he decides to plant vines and start what is now the winery, led by his great-grandson, Carmelo Ortega. In the 90s, Carmelo established the winery headquarters in an old house that served as a winery for many years, now a site where an enotourism project is being developed to encourage tourism in the region. Their property covers approximately 700 hectares of scrubland, almond fields and vineyards, all of which are sheltered by the nearby mountains, which create climatic conditions that include a reduced risk of frost and a controlled level of humidity in the summer. This set of features and factors, together with the characteristics of the soil (pebbles, low organic matter), creates a unique grape-growing microcosm, which has allowed them to develop the “village wine” style they are looking for to define the wines of Tudelilla (the village where they are situated in the heart of the Rioja Baja region).. A blend of 90% Garnacha and 10% Viura, this wine has ripe and floral notes, with hints of tropical fruit (grapefruit, passion fruit and orange peel). Serve as an aperitif or cold dishes.

We are really excited about these wines, because one of the "Three Sisters", Rebecca Mikulic (nee Lawrence) used to work here at KWM. That and the wines are also delicious! Rebecca and her husband winemaker Matthew Mikulic grow grapes throughout the Okanagan, and have a winery on the Naramata Bench. This 100% Pinot Noir Rose was fermented in stainless steel tanks.

Clos Cibonne Tibouren Rose

Located on the shores of the Mediterranean in the Provence region of Southwest France, this unique Wine transcends what is traditionally done in the area. Made from the grape varietal “Tibourne”, which is a very thin-skinned grape which is becoming exceedingly rare, was originally grown in Mesopotamia before being cultivated by the Greeks. At Clos Cibonne, these grapes are Goblet trained and the Vineyards directly face the sea. This allows for the grapes to be constantly blasted and dried by the winds of the Mistral which makes sure that the grapes aren't affected by Grey Rot.
This wine is made with 90% Tibouren and 10% Grenache, fermented in stainless steel, then aged on lees under Fleurette for 12 months in a large wooden vat.

"Aveleda Fonte Rosé is a typical rosé profile from the Vinho Verde Wine Region. The night harvest allows the grapes to keep their freshness and, consequently, preserve their aromatic properties. This rosé is made using the direct pressing method: when arriving at the vinification center, the grapes are directly pressed at low pressures to avoid skin contact. The alcoholic fermentation happens in stainless steel vats under strictly controlled temperatures to preserve the most typical aromas of the varieties. Fermentation happens in contact with lees in order to keep the freshness of the wine."
