Puglia may not be the first wine-growing region the comes to mind when thinking of Italy, but it is the second only to Veneto in wine production. Located in the boot of Italy, the region is known primarily for Negroamaro and Primitivo when it comes to red wine grapes.
About The Winery
Cantina Cosimo Taurino was founded in 1970 by the legendary Apulian producer, Cosimo Taurino. He was a pioneer of Negroamaro, and of the Apulian wine industry, changing it's reputation of the 'not so great southern region that only produces bulk grapes for the north' to a region known for it's high-quality red and rosé wines. Ever since the winery opened it's doors, they have continued to grow and produce some of the best wines Puglia has to offer.

We are really excited about these wines, because one of the "Three Sisters", Rebecca Mikulic (nee Lawrence) used to work here at KWM. That and the wines are also delicious! Rebecca and her husband winemaker Matthew Mikulic grow grapes throughout the Okanagan, and have a winery on the Naramata Bench. This 100% Pinot Noir Rose was fermented in stainless steel tanks.

Clos Cibonne Tibouren Rose

Located on the shores of the Mediterranean in the Provence region of Southwest France, this unique Wine transcends what is traditionally done in the area. Made from the grape varietal “Tibourne”, which is a very thin-skinned grape which is becoming exceedingly rare, was originally grown in Mesopotamia before being cultivated by the Greeks. At Clos Cibonne, these grapes are Goblet trained and the Vineyards directly face the sea. This allows for the grapes to be constantly blasted and dried by the winds of the Mistral which makes sure that the grapes aren't affected by Grey Rot.
This wine is made with 90% Tibouren and 10% Grenache, fermented in stainless steel, then aged on lees under Fleurette for 12 months in a large wooden vat.

"Aveleda Fonte Rosé is a typical rosé profile from the Vinho Verde Wine Region. The night harvest allows the grapes to keep their freshness and, consequently, preserve their aromatic properties. This rosé is made using the direct pressing method: when arriving at the vinification center, the grapes are directly pressed at low pressures to avoid skin contact. The alcoholic fermentation happens in stainless steel vats under strictly controlled temperatures to preserve the most typical aromas of the varieties. Fermentation happens in contact with lees in order to keep the freshness of the wine."

The grapes grown without systemic fungicides, herbicides and pesticides, small batch processing, with a sustainable approach is the mandate. They make limited-production wines from the best sites in the Okanagan Valley with a special focus on the wines of the Naramata Bench
This is not your typical light and crisp Rosé. Daydreamer's 90% Syrah and 10% Viognier are made from the Saignée of the winery's Amelia red wine. Saignée means that this pink juice was pulled from the red wine's tank just as it began fermentation. This Rosé had 18 hours of skin contact with the combination of Syrah and Viognier leading to a floral, fruity and silky wine with a touch of body to it as well.
Dagueneau Pinot Rose De Charitois

This rose is made from 100% Pinot Noir picked from a .25 hectare plot in the Loire region of France. It is Hand harvested then vinified and matured in steel tanks before bottling. It is an ample, fruity wine with a scintillating color and delicious aromas reminiscent of crushed strawberries. A wine that wears the colors of summer!
The history of the domaine dates to the late Léontine Dagueneau. In the 1920s as a widower, she bought two hectares of vines in the Loire River valley where she also grew vegetables and tended to her livestock, which consisted mainly of cattle and goats. She also made cheese alongside her wine, both of which were sought after for their quality and finesse. From here the torch has been handed down through four generations of winemakers, each of which added their own mark on the winery and Dagueneau name.
Today, the name “Serge Dagueneau & Filles” is most often associated with the region of Pouilly-Fumé in the Loire region of France. This region is known for its high acid, dry, mineral-driven, Sauvignon Blancs but the rosé is a lovely summer tipple, all crushed wild strawberries with some grapefruit zest.

The Sumoll grape varietal is difficult to grow but has a very alluring personality that rewards the careful patience of growers and drinkers alike. Sumoll was far more prevalent in the Penedes and the Catalonia region in the 1800s. However, many of the vineyards in the region were destroyed by phylloxera and little Sumoll was replanted afterwards. Today, the grape is making a slow but steady rise within the region as it becomes prized for its uniqueness and ties to the area.
