This 1997 vintage Ardmore was matured for a quarter of a century in an active Refill Sherry Cask, and bottled at 50.3%. It was selected by and bottled exclusively for your humble whisky drudges at KWM!

Could this juice be from Cooley? The signs look good... and boy do we love the juice from Cooley! A 14 year Irish Single Malt bottled at 47.6%.
Producer Description: "Our fourth batch from this undisclosed Irish distillery is a 14 Year Old, a release of just 2,116 bottles at 47.6% abv. If you know your Irish Whiskey history, then you should be able to close down on the distilleries this could come from. It’s a single malt, so that rules out Ireland’s largest distillery, Midleton as they don’t make a single malt."
About the Label
"The inspiration for this label comes straight out of a British made sitcom called ‘Father Ted’ It originally aired on Channel 4 from April 1995 and ran for just three series up until May 1998 Set on the fictional Craggy Island, a remote location off Ireland's west coast, the show is about three priests exiled on the island for various past incidents. Our label comes from an episode called ‘A Song for Europe’ that featured ‘My lovely Horse’"

"Welcome to Soup Town" reads a sign on the label for this Boutique-y bottling. Could that be a Campbeltown reference? Could the whisky in the bottle be Glen Scotia blended with a "Highland" Distillery - perhaps Loch Lomond? Who knows?!? What we do know is that this is one dense and rich whisky! 48.8 %. Please note that both Batch 1 and Batch 2 contain the very same whisky. Batch 2 is just batch 1 rebottled into mini / 50ml bottles!

"Another delicious-y blended malt loop on our whisky belt. This bottling has been produced using a “teaspoon” of another expression from a top secret distillery that we absolutely cannot name. So here’s another interesting piece of artwork to throw you off course. As you can see, there’s a queue building along the lovely high street of Souptown. Heading for the The Bonny, Bonny Bank, the crowd pass Glen Coacher Taxis and Highlander Blooms Florist. The town also seems to host a major runway, with two US bombers inbound."

STR casks (shaved, toasted, recharred) have been a godsend for the whisky world. The concept has helped restore faith in the institution of wine cask maturation. Those of us with a bit of reticence when it comes to malts matured in casks that once held that grapey goodness have found STRing to be the panacea to all of those sour, funky, fermenty whiskies of the past.
This is the second edition of this core Lindores Abbey expression that was matured in former red wine barriques. Rather dessertish. One dram isn't quite enough. Nor is two.
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 49.4% abv.

It is back and exclusive to KWM in Calgary again, bottled at 58%. The Ileach Cask Strength is a mystery malt from Islay. In other words, the distillery of origin is a mystery but, look closely at the label, and you'll see a couple of clues: the distillery has its own bay, presumably passable on only the one side; it's water-front has a distinct appearance; and could that be the ruins of the Dunyvaig Castle on the far right? Lagging behind and not understanding our not-so-subtle hints on which distillery this could be? Fear not - this is what makes Mystery Malts so much fun.
