Buzzard`s Roost Toasted Barrel Rye

$121.99

Another Buzzard's Roost rye we simply had to have. I'm almost scared to utter the words 'toasted barrel' anymore, as we've all seen the feeding frenzy that ensues as soon as those words are strung together and stuck on the front of a bottle of whiskey. The real key here isn't that the barrels are toasted, but that they're not charred. Look for warm woody (and slightly smoky) tones with this one. Mashbill: 95% rye / 5% malted barley. 52.5%

Casey Jones Kentucky Straight Bourbon

$93.99

Casey Jones is relatively new in our market, but for those with a love of history (especially as relates to whiskey, prohibition, and early distillation), a visit to the brand's website is well worthwhile. We tasted through a range of CJ products recently and greenlit all of 'em. This Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a high corn / low rye mash bill that drinks beyond the declared 2.3 years indicated on the bottle. 56%

Casey Jones Kentucky Bourbon

$79.99

A young and bold Kentucky Bourbon distilled in a square copper pot still. That's not a still type; it's legitimately the shape of the Casey Jones Distillery's pot still, built in homage to the highly mobile prohibition-era stills that the legendary Casey Jones was knocking out for the bootleggers all those years back. Lots of history here - which is fun, of course - but the spirit is bloody good, and that's what really matters. High corn / low rye mash bill. 52%

Leopold Bros Bonded Bourbon

$118.99

Released at 5 years old, the Leopold Bros Bottled in Bond Bourbon is distilled from a mash of 64% Corn, 21% Malted Barley, and 15% Abruzzi Heritage Rye. It was first released in 2020.

Bottled at 50% ABV. As a Bonded Bourbon Whiskey, it has to adhere to the following rules as laid down in the Bottled In Bond Act of 1897:

• All whiskey in the bottle must be produced by one distillery and by one distiller over the course of one distillation season.
• The whiskey must be at least four years old.
• It must be bottled at least 100 proof / 50% ABV
• The whiskey must be aged in bonded warehouses under United States federal supervision.
• The label on the bottle has to state which distillery it comes from and also where it was bottled.

The Leopold Bros Distillery opened in 2014 and is located in Denver Colorado. The distillery makes whisky and other spirits from grains and fruit sourced as locally as possible - just about everything is grown in Colorado itself, including the Rye which is grown at Leopold Bros' own farm. One of the unique features of the distillery - at least by American standards - is a malting floor which is used to malt grains on site. They also use an on-site dunnage warehouse as opposed to the more typical Rickhouse with multiple floors for ageing.

Redwood Empire Grizzly Beast Bourbon

$123.99

This is a 5-year-old bottled in bond Bourbon, 50%. Redwood Empire used a four-grain mash bill for this Bonded Bourbon, consisting of 66% Corn, 23% Rye, 7% Wheat, and 4% Barley.

The Russian River Valley might not be your first (or second, or tenth) guess at the location to house a whiskey distiller, but that is where Redwood Empire Distilling resides. The Graton, California distillery was established in 2015.

Redwood Empire Rocket Top Rye

$121.99

The Rocket Top is bottled at 50% from a High Rye Mashbill. This Redwood Empire Bonded Rye is made from a four grain mash bill consisting of 57% Rye, 5% of both Wheat and Barley, and 3% Corn.

Bottled at 50% ABV. As a Bonded Rye Whiskey, it has to adhere to the following rules as laid down in the Bottled In Bond Act of 1897:

• All whiskey in the bottle must be produced by one distillery and by one distiller over the course of one distillation season.
• The whiskey must be at least four years old.
• It must be bottled at least 100 proof / 50% ABV
• The whiskey must be aged in bonded warehouses under United States federal supervision.
• The label on the bottle has to state which distillery it comes from and also where it was bottled.

Producer Description

"This rare whiskey was bottled under the strict tenents of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. Aged in the temperate climate of the Northern California coast, the original distillate was altered only by the addition of pure water from the Russian River Valley aquifer. This is the purest expression of Redwood Empire’s craft."

Rebel 10 Year Single Barrel Bourbon

$139.99

Rebel Bourbon has quietly dropped the Yell from their name. Perhaps laryngitis is the culprit? Or Luxco, the company behind the brand, has decided to distance itself from the connection to the Billy Idol song? Maybe. Regardless; this single barrel 10-year-old bottled at 50% might have you crying more, more, more...
