Bulleit Barrel Strength Batch No. 8
$91.99
Batch 8 of the popular and high-rye mash bill Bulleit Barrel Strength Bourbon is bottled at 60.9% ABV.
Producer Description
"Distilled in Kentucky from the highest quality ingredients, this new variant is a barrel strength version of Bulleit Bourbon with the same high-rye mash bill. Bulleit Barrel Strength won Best Straight Bourbon and received a Double Gold Medal from the 2018 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and earned a score of 92 at the 2017 Ultimate Spirits Challenge – continuing Bulleit’s history of sharing award-winning whiskeys.
The barrels selected to create Bulleit Barrel Strength were emptied and combined into a single batch without the inclusion of any additional water after the whiskey was removed from the barrels. Aged and bottled at Stitzel-Weller in Louisville, Ky., this new offering allows bartenders and fans of great whiskey the opportunity to taste Bulleit Bourbon straight out of the barrel, uncut and non-chill filtered."
Puncher`s Chance The Left Cross
$169.99
14-Year-Old Bourbon, you say? Finished in ex-rum casks, is it?
This curious release comes from Wolf Spirit of Eugene, Oregon. The Bourbon was sourced from Kentucky, according to the producer's website, but that might be an error. The mash bill is listed on Wolf Spirits's website as 84% Corn, 8% Malt, and 8% Rye, which lines up with the mash bill for George Dickel/Cascade Hollow Distillery - but that is in Tennessee... What is known is that the 14 Year Old Bourbon was finished for up to six months in casks that previously held 12-year-old Jamaican Rum. The result was then bottled at 48% ABV.
Jack Daniel`s Single Barrel 62.5%
$87.99
Prepare yourself, for this is no shrinking violet. Jack Daniels Single Barrel at Barrel Proof weighs in at 129 proof. Made from Jack Daniel’s typical mash bill of 80% Corn, 12% Rye, and 8% Malted Barley. The mash was distilled and then put through the Lincoln County Process before being put into heavily charred virgin oak barrels made at the distillery’s own cooperage. Single barrel releases from Jack Daniel’s are typically 4 to 7 years old. 62.5% ABV
At its base level, the Lincoln County Process used to make Tennessee Whiskey means that the new make spirit or white dog/white lightning is filtered through sugar maple charcoal before being put into barrels to age. Jack Daniel’s has its own version of this, wherein the distillery burns sugar maple boards/ricks to a heavy char and then sprays them down with water to prevent complete combustion. After burning the new charcoal is ground into pellets and packed into vats through which the 70% ABV new make spirit filters through. The filtered spirit is cut to 62.5% ABV and put into heavily charred virgin oak barrels to age away.
Producer Note: "Selected by our Master Distiller and presented at 125 proof, this high character single barrel Tennessee Whiskey reflects the flavor imparted by our handmade, toasted and charred, American Oak barrels. Bottled a barrel at a time, Barrel Strength lifts Jack’s trademark vanilla and toasted oak flavors to bold new levels for an aromatic and smooth whiskey experience, complemented by notes of sweet brown sugar that give way to hints of dark spice."

Peerless Small Batch Straight Bourbon
$144.99
First hitting the market in the USA in 2019, The Kentucky Peerless Small Batch Barrel Proof Bourbon is now in Canada! Though the mash bill used for the Peerless Straight Bourbon is not disclosed, it is likely not very high-rye, as the company has released a High-Rye Bourbon in the USA.
Unchilfiltered. The alcohol volume will vary from batch to batch as Peerless does not proof down their bottles to achieve a consistent ABV. This batch was bottled at the abnormally specific 54.45% ABV, or 108.9 proof.
The Peerless name is a revived brand that first saw light in Henderson, Kentucky in the 1880s. The Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company boomed in the early 1900s under owner Henry Kraver. Though the company's Bourbon was sold during Prohibition under government licence for medical purposes, whisky production did not survive and the distillery was shut down permanently. The revival of the Kentucky Peerless Distilling Company was undertaken by Corky and Carson Taylor, the great-grandson and great-great-grandson of Henry Kraver, respectively. The new Peerless distillery is located in Louisville, Kentucky and has been in operation since 2015.
From The Producer
"Peerless® Kentucky Straight Bourbon upholds the promise of producing top-notch spirits from the historic distillery. Unlike rye, which features more hay and pepper, Peerless® Bourbon is rooted in fruits, florals, and oaks. The nose features citrus, cedar, and honeysuckle as well as a nice balance of spicy oak. The first sip is that of caramel and toasted oak before a multitude of notes from around the flavor wheel show up on the palate. The finish showcases an enduring duel between sweet and spicy notes as citrus, florals, and sweet oak tussle with dry cocoa, cinnamon, and spicy oak. The result is an amazing whiskey - fascinating for everyone from beginners to connoisseurs."
