Holyrood Arrival Single Malt Scotch

Holyrood Arrival Single Malt Scotch

$108.99

Arrival is the first-ever single malt from Edinburgh's Holyrood Distillery. Bottled at 46.1% this unpeated single malt has been matured in a mix of Oloroso Butts, Pedro Ximenez Hogsheads,
Bourbon Barrels, and Rum Barriques.

It is part of a global release of just 8,188 bottles, with only a fraction of that coming to Canada. We are especially excited about this inaugural release as Holyrood Distillery was founded by Calgarians Rob & and Kelly Carpenter... Congratulations you two... we are really proud of you!

Producer Description

"Arrival embodies our story-so-far as whisky makers, and marks the beginning of a journey of progression, innovation and experimentation.
Inspired by Holyrood Distillery’s iconic location in the former Innocent Railway terminal, Arrival not only gives a nod to Edinburgh’s pioneering past but also invokes a sense of achievement in the release of this, the inaugural single malt release from Holyrood Distillery."

Andrew's Tasting Note

Nose: rich, fruity, and a touch funky with decadent spice; nutty with some classic Christmas cake, candied nuts, and dark chocolate; mulled wine, spiced rum, and warn apple cider; toasted oak and cooked raisins.

Palate: warming, rich, and malty with building layers of fruit, spice, and oak; very festive, more Christmas cake, candied nuts, and mulled wine; more dark chocolate, spiced dark rum, and warm apple cider; crystallized ginger, licorice root, and cinnamon sticks; chewy malt, jujubes, candy apple, and dried apricot; becomes more earthy with leathery tannins.

Finish: still rich, warming, and spicy, it fades slowly and elegantly.

Comment: it has a profile and elegance beyond its years; it might be young, but it is complex and dangerously drinkable!

Producer Tasting Note

Nose: Dried fruit, tropical fruit, raisins, hint of butterscotch, fresh baked cake, sticky toffee pudding, soft leather, biscuit.

Palate: Toffee, caramel, vanilla, digestive biscuits, ginger spice, butterscotch, tablet, slight savoury salinity, raisins.

Finish: Long lasting, mouth-watering, juicy, sweet spice, delicate, fruity, apple pie, red fruit.
