Sylvain Martel Julienas Magnum
$129.99
Sylvain Martel completed his winemaking training in the Southern Rhone and spent ten years running a small organic estate in the Ardeche. He relocated to Beaujolais, after the Graillot family of Crozes-Hermitage brought him on board to help establish and manage Domaine de Fa. As fate would have it, Sylvain met Anne-Sophie Dubois (we carry her wines as well) in 2016 and settled down in Fleurie. By 2018 he was ready to start his own project and purchased a 1.3ha plot of 45 year old Gamay vines on a dramatic steep slope at 450m altitude in the lieu-dit of Bessay in the western part of Julienas. A terroir of blue stones, the tree-lined vineyard is planted to a high density, cultivation is organic and the yields are kept low (25hl/ha).

Lapierre Morgon Cru Beaujolais
$64.99
If you are more of a organic/biodynamic/natural/transparent wine fellow, Lapierre is a name you will know well. If you don't, not to worry because we will explain why this wine is important.
Marcel lapierre took over his father's vineyard in 1973, and started to challenge the norm. His mentor, Jules Chauvet was one of (if not) the first person to speak out about natural wine; a style of wine that is honest and true to what nature intended. With Lapierre joining Chauvet, his winery is one of the biggest names known to the natural wine world. Unfortunatley Marcel passed in 2010, but his son Mathieu and daughter Camille carry on his legacy, producing natural and delicious Beaujolais. This Morgon is one of their flagship wines. It's stony, it's flinty, it's dark plum, it's cherry, it is complex. A wine that can age, but also is showing well in its youth. Sit back, relax, and experience Lapierre.
Bulliat Beaujolais Village
$29.99
The father-son team of Noël and Loïc Bulliat is currently in charge of the family estate. Loïc is the seventh generation to operate the domaine. There have been many changes with the acquisition of parcels since its creation in 1780, with vineyards now covering over almost 28 hectares distributed over eight appellations, including five “crus”, Morgon, Fleurie, Chénas, Chiroubles, and Moulin à Vent. Concern for the environment, respect for nature and the desire to express the terroir led the domaine towards the conversion to organic viticulture in 2010.
"Simple, delicious, uncomplicated...carefree Beaujolais wines that I would happily polish off over dinner," according to Robert Parker's Wine Advocate! That's the cool thing about Beaujolais wines — they're well-made, well-priced and very easy to drink. Drink this one now alongside a roast chicken and a baguette.
Lapierre Morgon Raisins Gaulois
$39.99
A fun, fresh, well-priced red wine made from Gamay grapes by one of the top organic producers in Beaujolais. This pretty red is simple and straightforward and delicious. A wine of thirst par excellence! Marcel Lapierre, who died in 2010, was a major force behind the natural wine movement that has been sweeping the globe. His son and daughter, Mathieu and Camille, now heads up the winery, making fruit-forward wines with minimal intervention.
Dubois Cocottes Fleurie
$47.99
A Classic Beaujolais for Autumn!
Anne-Sophie Dubois is a young dynamic winemaker situated in the cru of Fleurie, Beaujolais. Her family moved from Champagne, where they were previously winemakers, to Beaujolais in 1992 and purchased a Domain. At 23 years old, Anne Sophie took over the Domaine in 2006. Since then, she has converted all her vineyards to organic and is currently 2 years away from getting her vineyards certified organic. In the cellar, she works with a minimal intervention approach. She uses a gravity-fed system with no chemicals other than a small addition of sulphur before bottling. She ages all of her wine in oak, stating:
“I am very attached to the ageing of my wines in barrel, but not to bring a woody taste. I love this material. The wood is natural, the wine breathes through it, it comes out clear and open.”
She also happens to be an artist, the beautiful labels are hers as well.
Bulliat Morgon
$36.99
Noël Bulliat and his son Loïc run this family estate that covers 27 ha in 8 different crus in the heart of the Beaujolais region. It began in 1978 when Noël bought 4 ha of Beaujolais Villages straight after graduating from viticultural school. The grapes are hand-picked and fermented with the whole clusters intact. Morgon is arguably the most important of the Beaujolais crus (there are 10 in total) and - along with Moulin-A-Vent- the most powerful in terms of concentration of fruit. The grapes undergo a cold maceration to preserve aromatic profile before being moved to cement tanks for semi-carbonic maceration, lasting 10 to 12 days using indigenous yeasts. They are certified organic and offer bright, expressive notes of red berries, minerality, subtle spice and lively acidity to tie it all together. Try it with duck or roast chicken.
