This is our first KWM-exclusive cask of Ardnamurchan… it is also the first Ardnamurchan cask bottled exclusively for a Canadian retailer... and we are more than a little excited to have it. Of the 40-odd new distilleries in Scotland, Ardnamurchan is one of our favourites. This 7 year old peated Ardnamurchan was matured in a single ex-Bourbon Barrel, selected by your friends here at Kensington Wine Market. 57.5%. Loads more geeky details below!
Ardnamurchan Blockchain Anorak (Geeky) Details:
- The malt variety is Concerto, grown at Broomhall Farm, and it was peated during the malting process.
- The mashing was done by Gordon Mackay, and the three waters were respectively: 64.5C, 82C, and 96C.
- Fermentation was by Nicky Docherty, with an average of 76 hours.
- Distillation was also by Nicky, with the spirit run starting at 73% and cutting off at 64%.
- Matured in an ex-Bourbon Barrel, Cask No. 1146, filled in November of 2016.
- The whisky was bottled on March 26th by Kelly Combe, Holly McCafferty, and Reece Donaldson.

This is the second official Single Malt Whisky Release from Ardnamurchan. The AD 01.21:01 release is a batch made with a blend of 50% peated and 50% unpeated single malt whisky that was matured in a combination of 65% Ex-Bourbon casks / 35% Sherry casks.

Ardnamurchan is unquestionably one of the most exciting young distilleries in Scotland. The whisky is rough-and-tumble old school highland malt. In other words, exactly what we love in young whisky. Expect a wee bit of peat with this one.

"Our Single Malt whisky comprises an equal proportion of peated and unpeated malt. The cask makeup is 65% ex bourbon barrels from Kentucky and 35% ex sherry casks, Oloroso and PX, from Jerez."
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 46.8% abv.

"It’s a potion that Angus cooked up in collaboration with the good folk at Ardnamurchan Distillery. It’s a mix of 1st fill and 2nd fill, peated and unpeated sherry octaves. We mixed them all together and married them in a refill sherry butt for over six months until the whole potion turned 7 years old, then we bottled it with slight reduction at 57.1%.
