Thomas Reynolds emigrated to Porto in 1824 and founded Thomas Reynolds & Son, dedicated to the export of Port wine, olive oil, wool, honey and cork to England. Around 1832, he moved to Alentejo, attracted by the cork business.
Herdade do Mouchão was one of dozens of estates where the Reynolds family produced cork, and it is likely that there were already vines on the estate by that time.
In 1850, Robert Hunter Reynolds (son of Thomas) assumed the management of the business, and in the early 1880’s his nephew William Reynolds played a crucial role in the fight against phylloxera as President of the National Commission against Phylloxera.

Chianti Classico is the cornerstone of the estate’s production. The vineyards are located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southeastern part of the Chianti Classico appellation, to the southeast of Siena. Almost exclusively with a southwestern exposure, they sprawl across ventilated slopes at an altitude ranging from 320-420 meters above sea level. Geologically, the terrains are mixed: in the higher parts the soil is predominantly rock quartz and calcareous Albanese mixed with alluvial pebbles; stratiform sandstone and loam characterize the vineyards on the edge of the Colli Senesi in the direction of the Crete Senesi. The first vintage was produced in 1967. 2019 was an exceptional vintage for the region, and it shows in the classic Chianti.

Protos has the distinction of producing wines in the Ribera de Duero region since 1927, making them the first producer to sell their wines commercially. They authorized the use of their Ribera del Duero brand for the region, and in doing so created what has become one of the most famous names in Spanish viticulture. They built their new state-of-the-art facility in 2008, and the structure has won awards for its design. The fruit for this wine is sourced from two of their oldest vineyards, Burgos and Valladolid, both averaging 35 years of age. It spends 12 months in French and American barrels and shows subtle notes of vanilla, char, and spice, all wrapped in a core of red fruits. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, a nice choice for charcuterie or roast chicken.
