Baller Single Malt Whiskey
$107.99
No, this is not Japanese Whisky, but then again a lot of "Japanese Whisky" is not actually Japanese...
Distilled and produced by St George Spirits of California, The Baller Single Malt Whiskey is an homage to the Japanese style. The whiskey is finished in casks that previously held Umeshu/Plum Liqueur that was also made at St. George Spirits. Bottled at 47%.
About The Label
"Distiller Lance Winters did the art direction for the label, which re-imagines the legend of St. George as a samurai. The original watercolor on the front label was by Oakland artist Sylvia Solochek Walters, done to emulate woodcut. The calligraphy was done by Eri Takase of Takase Studios."
Woodford Reserve Wheat Whiskey
$49.99
Wheat is a less common grain to see take centre stage in American Whiskies, though it happily plays an amazing second fiddle in Bourbon such as Maker's Mark, William Larue Weller, Pappy Van Winkle, and more. There are some solid Wheat Whiskeys out there if you look though, such as Bernheim from Heaven Hill and Dry Fly out of Washington State. Joining that duo is this Wheat Whiskey from Woodford Reserve and parent company Brown-Forman.
Made from a mash bill of 52% Wheat, 20% malt, 20% Corn, and 8% Rye. Bottled at 45.2%.
Elijah Craig Rye
$52.99
Made from a Mashbill of 51% Rye, 35% Corn and 14% Malted Barley at Heaven HIll's Bernheim Distillery. The mash bill differs slightly from the excellent Rittenhouse Bonded Rye which is made at the same distillery and also owned by Heaven Hill. Like the Elijah Craig Bourbon, this Rye is bottled at 47% ABV.
Kentucky Owl Wiseman Bourbon
$74.99
Though there are plans to build a proper Kentucky Owl Distillery, but construction is not likely to begin until at least 2024. Kentucky Owl Wiseman is currently contract distilled at Bardstown Bourbon Company. The Wiseman is a blend of the distillery's Rye and Wheat Bourbon mash bills that are at least four years of age. These two Bourbons are then further blended with 5.5 Year Old and 8.5 Year Old Bourbon sourced from undisclosed Kentucky distilleries. The resulting whisky is bottled at 45.4%.
Barrell Craft Seagrass Rye
$154.99
Producer Note: "Barrell Seagrass is an ode to coastal memories, blended to evoke the joy of a day on the beach and an evening listening to the soothing rhythm of waves. Hot sun, brisk air, dry sand, and oceanside vegetation are brought to mind. A ripe and inviting tropical nose and grassy, bright body evolve to a finish as long as the view down the shore on a clear day.
A basket brimming with tropical and orchard fruits lies at the heart of this juicy whiskey, with prominent tones of ripe apricot from the brandy casks. The tropical notes are kept in check by a broad array of spicy and herbaceous rye aromas and complemented by the delicate florals of grassy, Martinique rhum. With a splash of water, the oxidized Madeira notes emerge, candying the fruit and bringing out an earthiness on the palate." 59.2%
Hirsch Bourbon The Horizon
$74.99
The first few batches of Hirsch: The Horizon Bourbon are a blend of high-Rye five and six-year-old Bourbon originally distilled at the venerable MGP of Lawrenceberg, Indiana. The resulting batches are bottled at 46%.
From The Producer
"HIRSCH’S newest offering, THE HORIZON, honors our forward-looking nature: steadfast, determined, moving onward at a brisk pace, forever in search of the next adventure. THE HORIZON isn’t an end result, a destination on a map; it’s something we spend our lives in search of.
THE HORIZON combines two straight bourbons distilled in Lawrenceberg, Indiana: 94% of the blend is distilled from a traditional mash bill and aged a minimum of 4 years. The remaining 6% is distilled from a “high rye” mash aged 6 years for added complexity. Bottled at 92 proof, THE HORIZON is crafted to be enjoyed neat or on the rocks."
Blackened Whiskey
$81.99
This is Metallica's whiskey - a blend of Bourbon and Rye from Kentucky and Tennessee that is finished in Brandy Casks. Bottled at 45%
No word on why this whiskey comes in a bottle instead of a jar-o.
From The Producer
"This award-winning whiskey is a marriage of the finest North American straight bourbon & rye whiskeys and uniquely finished and sonically-enhanced in brandy casks, using the BLACK NOISE™ process to extract more flavor from the wood. The sweetness of the bourbon is perfectly balanced with the savory spice offered by the rye. The whiskey is further enhanced with the brandy cask finish adding notes of apricot, which plays perfectly alongside the honey and caramel notes of the blend."
Buzzard`s Roost Peated Barrel Rye Whiske
$121.99
Finally! A peated American whiskey that works! This is a four-year-old straight rye that has been recasked in peat-cold-smoked barrels to bring another dimension to the sweet and spicy distillate. These experiments can often yield results that seem a little...disjointed. This, however, is one of the very few exceptions. Mash bill: 95% rye / 5% malted barley. 52.5%.
Buzzard`s Roost Barrel Strength Rye
$123.99
A bigger, bolder version of the Buzzard's Roost Small Batch Rye. They say only the best of their barrels get called up to the big leagues for this release. And when you taste it, you can see what they mean. Matured for 4 years before being bottled at 57%. Mashbill: 95% rye / 5% malted barley.
