Osoyoos Larose Grand Vin Magnum
$194.99
88 points from Gismondionwine.com for the 2010 vintage - and this is an impressive magnum format! The review: ""Le Grand Vin", Osoyoos Larose has had a lot to live up to over the years since it burst onto the BC scene with great fanfare in 2001. A partnership between Constellation Brands and Bordeaux's Groupe Taillan, owner of Chateau Giraud Larose, this wine has increasingly grown into its big shoes over the past decade. Concentrated and compact, this is a hard fisted wine for future consumption. Gravels, broken stone, dried earth and faint black cherry aromas open. Bitter cherry, thorns, iron, bitter black plum dominate." Buy a bottle and cellar it for a year or two, or decant and drink now with slow-roasted lamb, roast beef or steak.

It is now headed by Florence Castarede, who is the sixth generation of the Castarède family in charge of the Armagnac house. Castarède has an impressive selection of vintages still available, with consecutive vintages from 2003 back to the 1890s.

Redemption Rye Whiskey
$59.99
We're in a bit of a rye renaissance at the moment. It seems the whisky world has finally woken up and is rediscovering a classic style of whisky that has been kept away from the spotlight for a while. This big and spicy throwback from Redemption, however, hearkens back to an age when rye was king. We're not talking about the drink we Canadians like to call 'rye' (usually corn); we're talking right proper rye grain distillate. The mashbill on this weighty little number from Indiana's MGP distillery is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. You know what that means, right? Spice, spice, spice! And while it really does work well in high end cocktails, the sharp pristine grain here is best sipped neat from a good whisky glass.

Producer Tasting Note
Beautiful flavored rye spice with light floral and citrus notes. Slight mint finish makes this great for sipping or mixing in a classic cocktail. (Think Manhattan, Old Fashioned, and Sazerac). True Rye flavor.
