Giovanni Davaz owns fifteen precious hectares of vineyards in Tavernelle Val di Pesa where he grows very fine Sangiovese, muscular Cabernet Sauvignon, and dense, powerful Syrah. Generous use of small barrels in vinification barely tame the exuberant, broad fruit quality of his wines, and the firm, large-scaled tannic structure in them makes them suitable for extended aging. Ripe and rich fruit gives this wine lush notes of sweet cherries and leather. Very food friendly, especially with herb-roasted chicken. Organic and vegan friendly!
Poggio al Sole Chianti Casasilia Reserva

From a prized single vineyard at high elevation, Casasilia (the estate's original name) is the winery’s most structured and age-worthy wine. 100% Sangiovese, aged in large oak casks for 18 months, it shows layered aromas of dark cherry, fennel seed, tobacco leaf, with a hint of Tuscan underbrush. It's deep, refined, and savoury Chianti Classico Gran Sezelione, ideal for the cellar, but drinkable now with a good decant. Pair with bistecca alla Fiorentina, slow-cooked lamb, or spaghetti with fresh truffles. We have some magnums and 3-litre bottles as well, ideal for the cellar. Poggio al Sole Syrah

Second-generation winemaker Johannes Davaz isn't from Tavernelle. Originally, he worked for his father in the family's Swiss vineyards and wine cellar before going to college to study enology. Years later, when the Davaz family took over the Poggio al Sole estate, Johannes (known locally as "Giovanni") undertook the responsibility of overseeing the new venture. There are not a lot of Chianti producers making syrah but when we first tasted this we wondered why. Stylistically, it's closer to the Rhone style than an Aussie shiraz. There's a great interplay of fruit and savouriness on the nose, with ripe cherry, pepper and cloves as well as a hint of violets. Structured on the palate, starts with lots of juice, ripe tannins, dancing acidity, savoury, persistent finish. Organic and vegan-friendly.

Owned and operated by the Vallet family since the early 19th Century, Montifaud is renowned for having a caring and careful approach to cognac with emphasis on traditional methods. The team also has a collection of bottles dating back to 1830. The vineyard covers 50 hectares and is in the heart of Fine Petite Champagne. Aged between 8-10 years in old Limousin oak casks, this Montifaud VSOP is tremendously mellow, with notes of pears, apricots and nuts on the palate. Smooth and satisfying.

The brewery never had a desire to produce copies of existing beers. As a consequence, La Chouffe and Mc Chouffe are distinctive and unique. The use of unusual ingredients such as spices, candy sugar , water from the Cedrogne spring (one of Belgium's highest) make for superb drinking experiences.
