Along with Inchmurrin and Inchmoan, Inchfad is one of three "Inch"es and a slew of other names/labels made by Loch Lomond Distillery. Also like many of the styles of whisky made at Loch Lomond Distillery since it started production in 1965, Inchfad gets its name from one of the islands within the freshwater lake the distillery takes its name from. This Boutique-y Inchfad is 13 years old and bottled at 49.5%.

Rosebank 31 Year

This is the second official release of Rosebank to come to Canada, after the distillery was purchased by Ian Macleod Distillers. The whisky is from the last few years of production before the distillery closed in 1993. 48.1%. Over the past few years, we've seen no more than a handful of Rosebanks. They're not getting any cheaper, as you can imagine, but they are unquestionably getting better with each passing year. Sadly, these old stocks will soon be gone. Get 'em while you can. (Just hide the credit card statement from your significant other!)

This moderately heavily peated Bruichladdich has been produced from Islay barley, malted to 40ppm and matured in Sherry Butts and refill ex-Bourbon casks before finishing in Sauternes casks. Bottled at 55.2%.

"This SC: 01 2012 vintage has been conceived, grown, distilled, matured and bottled only on Islay. The 2011 harvest was raised by seven of our farming partners, all within 10 miles of our distillery. In a stunning display of Islay terroir, this locally grown barley is combined with an intricate cask recipe.

"Malted to 40ppm by our maltsters on the Scottish mainland, it is returned home to be distilled through tall narrow-necked stills for ultimate elegance and finesse, before taking three separate paths in its maturation journey.

"A combination of sherry butts and first and second fill American whiskey barrels were recasked at different points of maturation into some of the finest Sauternes wine casks from the left bank of the Garonne River in Bordeaux.

"The result is a complex recipe which culminates in a classic example of our peated single malt; the mellow, floral-style hints of gorse complement honeyed coconut and fudge before opening into the Port Charlotte BBQ peat smoke."

About the Label

"The inspiration from this label comes from a scene straight out of Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory. Willy Wonka has been replaced by th wonderful Patrick van Zuidam. The landscape includes all the big landmarks from the film but the river and waterfall is whisky instead of chocolate. The candy plants have been replaced with whisky-related items too!"
