Two Brewers Yukon Single Malt Release 34
$104.99
Region:Canada > Yukon
Bottled under their "Innovative" range, Two Brewers Yukon Single Malt Release 34 has been bottled at 40%. It is a combination of 6-10+ year old whiskies with a complex mashbill. I'll let two brewers explain it below, but suffice to say some of the whisky was finished 27 months in refill ex-maple whisky casks.
Blending Notes
"Two barrels had contained maple syrup previously, the whisky from those barrels included a sour mash to provide depth to the maple-centric taste. Blended with those two barrels are two young but well-developed standard mashes, providing a mild canvas for the maple flavours to shine through. The young whiskies are quite lively, which would be a defect in one of our normal releases but the maple syrup tempers those flavours and they end up lending a lot of complexity and depth that can still be tasted beyond the prominent maple.
Barreling Info
"Standard combination of ex-Bourbon and Virgin Oak barrels for all of the whiskies, the star is obviously the two barrels that had contained maple syrup. Filled with maple syrup and then rinsed with whisky several times during their lives, the two barrels ended up sitting undisturbed for the last 27 months, allowing the whisky that went into Release 34 to soak every last bit out of the wood and giving ample time for the sugars and alcohol to interact."
