Cardhu 14 Year 2019 Ltd. Ed.
$209.99
We may see as few as six bottles of this hit our shelves. Our relationship with Diageo, is not what it should be. A limited release of Cardhu at 14 Years, matured longer than is the norm in ex-Amontillado. Bottled at 55%.
Producer Description
"A deliciously unusual expression, this Cardhu comes from a trial batch double matured for much longer than is the norm in ex-Amontillado sherry seasoned hogsheads; this wraps the expected Cardhu gentleness in a fine cloak of richer cloth."
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: A mild nose-feel, dry, soft and gentle, with a richly fruity initial aroma; orchard pears, peaches and cherries in syrup, a trace of banana. As it opens the nose becomes fragrant and floral, with perhaps a hint of lily of the valley, and a suggestion of vanilla cream. A drop of water closes it down somewhat, but brings out more sugary fruitiness.
Palate: At natural strength, smoothly creamy in texture, while the fruity taste is immediately sugar-sweet, as with soft fudge. There’s a trace of perfume in mid-palate then hot and spicy notes build towards the finish. Drying overall. With water sweetness is again the first impression, while a trace of salt heralds the return of the spiciness in the development.
Finish: Spicy, with a lingering, embracing warmth. With water, smoother but still spicy, with a pleasant dryness lingering on the tongue.
Westland Garryana 2019 Edition
$189.99
The 2019 Eidtion is labelled as Release 4|1. Bottled at 50%, this special edition from Westland Distillery of Seattle, Washington is between 3 and 6 years old. This Single Malt American Whisky was aged in a combination of ex-Rye, ex-Bourbon, Virgin Garryana Oak, PX Hoggies, and refill Garryana Oak.
Receiving its name from the Quercus garryana Oak trees native to the Pacific Northwest, Garryana or Garry Oak plays a major role in each Westland Garryana release.
Westland Distillery was founded in Seattle Washington in 2011. The distillery produces only single malt whisky, which is unique for American craft distilleries. The distillery primarily uses Virgin or new American oak, but has also been maturing in Ex-Bourbon, Ex-Sherry and Port casks. The first whisky was released in 2013, and the distillery has quickly risen to the top amongst the crowded field of American craft distillers. In 2016, the distillery was sold to Remy Cointreau, who are also the owners of Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay in Scotland.

Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: brown sugar melting in butter, French toast with maple syrup and earthy dunnage warehouse notes; bright orange, dried apricot and cantaloupe; dark chocolate covered espresso beans and loads of dried and dark fruits: prunes, raisins, dates & figs; salted caramel and treacle toffee; a touch of clean smoke and maritime notes.
Palate: big, rich, round and nutty with building spices; still earthy, more dunnage warehouses, leather and damp tobacco; more dried dark fruits, citrus and apricots; some melon and a touch of more tropical fruit; prominent, but elegant smoke and salt, with a touch of a tarry leathery backbone; builds in to dark chocolate, espresso bean and deep spices: fennel, clove, anise and a touch of Dutch licorice; more salted caramel and treacle toffee.
Finish: long, rich, sherried and coating; loads of dark fruits, spices, leather, chocolate and tobacco; ends creamy with a hint of salt, smoke and bags more fruit.
Comment: if you are seeking a big, rich, mature sherry bomb, look no further; this is a very complex, fruity dram, with just a touch of clean smoke and salt; the prices on these mysterious Edrington Blended Malts keep creeping up, but the juice is maturing beautifully!
Producer Tasting Note: “Roasted hazelnut and almond with mature oak and stewed fruits. Finish with lingering marmalade and espresso notes.”
