Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: honeyed, waxy and tropical; bright citrus fruits, light but decadent honey and soft floral tones; warm buttery croisants and baklava.
Palate: still sweet and honeyed, with a Clynelish-like waxiness; very floral, rose petals and aloe; more flaky pastries: buttery croisants and baklava drowning in honey; loads of citrus, melons and tropical fruits.
Finish: light, but long, fresh and sweet; loads more honey, flaky pastry and tropical fruits.
Comment: this Teaninich is a banger; you don't see whisky often from this distillery, and it can be quite hit or miss; this one is a home run... very Clynelish-y!
Producer Description
"The very first bottling of Teaninich single malt from That Boutique-y Whisky Company has arrived! It's a 19 year old expression, and features quite a saga of a story on the label. Teaninich was founded by Captain Hugh Munro, who lost his sight after surviving a gunshot to the head during a battle. He was due to marry a woman after returning from the skirmish, but her father would not let it happen. However, many years later, her dying wish was to see Captain Munro one last time at the local church, which is the scene unfolding on the label. Told you it was a saga."
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Hazelnut spread on rye bread, buttery croissants and fizzy oak spices.
Palate: Floral at first - almost vegetal at points. Soon enough, the sweet baking notes from the nose return in full force.
Finish: Honey, pear and hints of fresh barley.
