The 2003 vintage: Winter preceding the 2003 harvest was very wet. Flowering took place in bright warm weather at the end of May in some of the best conditions seen for several years. The first two weeks of August provided the intense summer heat which often precedes a great Port vintage. The picking season in September was warm and dry and the yields were even across all grape varieties, ensuring balance and complexity in the wines.

87pts Whisky Fun
"A new livery for the 15, it’s true that the former one was quite strange. Jim McEwan used to say this 15 was his favourite malt, after Bruichladdich of course (err, probably!) Colour: straw. Nose: it’s not that often than a 15 is a 10+5 years, if you see what I mean. Yeah, well, I mean that this one noses exactly like the 10 with five extra-years, that is to say with more vanilla, more spices (soft ones here) and a more refined fruitiness (added ripe strawberries here). The rest is similar (apples, lemon, wax, smoke.) Very nice. Mouth: exactly the same happens on the palate, all flavours playing louder this time. That means that it’s big whisky, full flavoured, interestingly citrusy and getting maybe just a tad too grassy/dry after a while. Quite some vanilla. Gets then funnily medicinal (no Laphroaig though), a tad camphory. Eucalyptus drops. Finish: long, still very zesty. Comments: more complexity in this one, a very entertaining profile. We like this one a lot, and it’s rather fairly priced. SGP:641 - 87 points."

She lives between London and Mendoza, and California (she is also an ER doctor at San Fransisco's busiest hospital). Alejandro Vigil has been Chief Winemaker of Bodega Catena Zapata since 2002, receiving the first 100-point score awarded to a South American wine by Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate (CZ River Stones 2016), and the highest rating ever given to a pure Cabernet Franc (Gran Enemigo Gualtallary 2013). He also holds the first 100-point score for an Argentine Chardonnay from James Suckling (CZ White Bones 2018). This is El Enemigo.
