Only 12 miles from Glasgow, and although a Highland by definition, these whiskies are known for a more Lowland style due to the use of unpeated malt. Also unique is the choice of sherry used for cask finishing. Instead of the more common olorosso wood, Glengoyne uses predominately palo cortado, resulting in more nutty flavors. This version has a light nose, and is creamy smooth with notes of vanilla.

New and improved. Their words, not ours. We think it was always a pretty killer dram (we just wish the abv was a bit more robust!). And while this 15-year-old was matured in a near-even split of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, it's definitely the sherry that sings loudest. Whoever pulled these particular casks together absolutely nailed it: 20% first fill bourbon, 25% first fill sherry, and 55% refill casks. Sounds pretty simple, but it's the balance that really wows here. Great blending.

This White Oak release flips the script on that premise, though, and shows an intriguingly different side to Glengoyne's Single Malt. Bottled at 59.2%, Batch 008 of the Glengoyne Cask Strength and was created from whiskies matured in 29% First-Fill Sherry casks, 16% First Fill Bourbon barrels, and 55% Refill casks.
