If you like sherry cask matured whisky, it is tough to beat Glengoyne, especially from a value point of view. Bottled at 43%, this whisky is composed of malts matured in 35% 1st Fill European Oak Sherry, 15% 1st Fill American Oak Sherry, and 50% Hand-selected quality Oak Refill casks.

Nose: Awash with red apple and ripe melon. Heavenly and well rounded, it drifts into hot porridge topped with brown sugar.
Palate: Full bodied, round and rich. At first macerated fruits, marzipan and walnuts; then warm spices, dry cocoa and lingering Seville marmalade.
Finish: Long, warm and dry.

Glengoyne Distillery is well known for using high quality ex-sherry casks to mature much of their whisky. This White Oak release flips the script on that premise, though, and shows an intriguingly different side to Glengoyne's Single Malt. If you haven't tried this and the more limited (and of course more expensive) Glengoyne 24 Year Old White Oak yet, then you should.
