Batch 009 of the Glengoyne Cask Strength has arrived. It is bottled at 59.6%. Batch 009 was created from "one third first-fill Oloroso sherry, two thirds refill casks and a smattering of bourbon barrels."
Bottled at 59.2%, Batch 008 of the Glengoyne Cask Strength and was created from whiskies matured in 29% First-Fill Sherry casks, 16% First Fill Bourbon barrels, and 55% Refill casks.

Nose: On the nose you’re met with baked lemon, rich sticky toffee pudding, malt biscuits, plum, hazelnut, and an unmistakable hit of zesty apple.
Palate: To taste, expect a weighty mouthful of rich vanilla and fresh fruits that develop into poached pears with cinnamon spice and a drizzle of honey.
Finish: The finish is long and rewarding, with Medjool dates, apricot, toffee, and honey.

Matured in a mix of 20% Ex-Bourbon, 20% First Fill Ex-Sherry and Refill casks and bottled at 43%. Glengoyne is a distillery that straddles the Highland/Lowland boundary. The whisky is unpeated and generally influenced by sherry notes.

"Inspired by Sir Arthur John Tedder – The Exciseman stationed at Glengoyne defining the rules of Scotch whisky, inspired by our distillery. March 2nd 1908 – He was first witness at the Royal Commission on Whiskey* and other potable spirits. A royal commission to determine the very concept of what whisky was. On one side was the purists who only thought Pot Still whisky was whisky and on the other side Blenders who thought grain and malt whisky combined was whisky.
"The Scots and the blenders won the day after 37 sittings; This was seen as the sensible outcome. Blends could still be called Whisky and called Scotch if distilled in Scotland. We will use this exceptional whisky to celebrate Tedder’s influence in defining what should make a great Scotch during his time stationed at Glengoyne – defining the rules to which we still distil to this day.
