Nikka Coffey Malt 45%
$94.99
Note: Nikka's own website notes that this bottle does not meet the criteria to be called a Japanese Whisky. The good news is that might mean it also contains Ben Nevis Single Malt, as the Ben Nevis Distillery is also owned by Nikka.
It is unusual to see single malt whisky distilled in a column (AKA continuous or Coffey) still, but here you have it and the result is superb. Formerly exclusive to KWM in Alberta, this is one hell of an interesting dram, soft, layered and very complex.
The sugar yield of malted barley compared with corn and wheat is not favourable, especially when you take the cost of malting and corn subsidies into account. So the Nikka Whisky Co. must have some other designs than simply creating bulk whisky by running barley through their Coffey stills.
Quintarelli Valpolicella 2017
$219.99
One of the finest examples of Valpolicella you'll ever get a chance to try, and one for serious collectors of the best Italian wines - or any wines, for that matter! "The late, great Maestro del Veneto, Giuseppe Quintarelli, succeeded in establishing his mythical and legendary estate during an amazing sixty-year career. All of the tradition, love, heart, and soul of crafting one of the world’s finest wines continue at the Quintarelli home and winery in the hills north of Verona," according to Kermit Lynch. This beauty is savoury-sweet, redolent of dark cherries and berries, touched by menthol and spice; a Quintarelli Valpolicella is a complex, otherworldly wine, and as it ages, the wine becomes even more ethereal.

The domaine employs biodynamic viticulture, a genuine philosophy of life that encourages respect for the earth, an understanding of natural cycles and the promotion of harmony between man and This beautiful Châteauneuf du Pape is a blend of 80% Grenache noir, 5% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault, and 5% Counoise from 50-yera-old vines. Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
$78.99
Produced exclusively from Scottish barley, which is only very lightly peated in line with the classic Laddie style, this core release has been bottled at 50% after maturing predominantly in American oak. The actual cask composition is evolving and varries from batch to batch. We have been consistently impressed with this whisky.
Producer Description
"Our signature bottling and the definitive Bruichladdich. Showcasing the classic, floral and elegant Bruichladdich house style, The Classic Laddie is made from 100% Scottish barley, trickle distilled, non-chill filtered and colouring free.
"The foundation for our Classic Laddie is not a recipe set in stone, but a distilling philosophy. We have no interest in precise uniformity, instead - year by year - the variety and provenance of our barley shapes our spirit, and an ever-increasing range of casks are sourced to evolve the variety of flavours in our warehouse."

Mayu Sauvignon Blanc
$19.99
This is one terrific buy! Viña Mayu was established in 2005, branching off from the Elqui Valley’s first fine wine producer that started up in 1998. Mauro Olivier was one of the pioneers, planting vines for fine wine production and sourcing grapes from different vineyards in the valley. He started working in his family's vineyards at a young age and spent some time working in Pisco production (the national Chilean spirit, made from white wine). In 2000, he planted the first Carménère and Syrah vines in the valley. Five years later, in 2005, he decided it was time to embark on his own wine project, creating the Mayu label. Mayu is an ancient INCA name for the Milky Way, literally meaning "creek of stars." Mayu's Sauvignon Blanc is an intensely aromatic dry white wine with ripe gooseberry, citrus and apple fruit flavours with crisp acidity. It's best served with white fish and shellfish, and can also be enjoyed as a refreshing aperitif. This Sauvignon Blanc shows an opulent character, nice fruit expression, length and complexity.
