The name of this Primitivo Salento IGP, 7° Ceppo refers to the seventh generation of winemakers of the Taurino family. The grapes for this Primitivo wine come from 70+ year old vines in the Mandura Region. Primitivo itself originated in Croatia and migrated to Italy in the late 1800s. Within Italy, it is grown primarily in Puglia.
Primitivo is possibly more well known under another name - Zinfandel - and was made popular under that moniker in California. It was not known that Primitivo and Zinfandel were the same grape until DNA profiling was done by the UC Davis in 1994.

St. Antony is a top-shelf riesling producer making high-quality wine since 1912. The ultra-modern winery they built sits on top of cellars that hold decades of premium riesling, a white grape that ages as well, if not better, than any first-growth Bordeaux or Burgundy (and for a lot less). In the glass, clear aromas of the terroir with flint and graphite, followed by lychee, apricot, lemon curd and peach notes. Sylvain Martel completed his winemaking training in the Southern Rhone and spent ten years running a small organic estate in the Ardeche. He relocated to Beaujolais, after the Graillot family of Crozes-Hermitage brought him on board to help establish and manage Domaine de Fa. As fate would have it, Sylvain met Anne-Sophie Dubois (we carry her wines as well) in 2016 and settled down in Fleurie. By 2018 he was ready to start his own project and purchased a 1.3ha plot of 45 year old Gamay vines on a dramatic steep slope at 450m altitude in the lieu-dit of Bessay in the western part of Julienas. A terroir of blue stones, the tree-lined vineyard is planted to a high density, cultivation is organic and the yields are kept low (25hl/ha).

The Seven Acre vineyard was originally planted in 1990. Each vintage typically undergoes 24-30 months of maturation in American oak with a small amount of further ageing in the bottle before release.

Their story began with Quintín Ortega in 1986. A humble figure with some good ideas and the determination to carry them out, he decides to plant vines and start what is now the winery, led by his great-grandson, Carmelo Ortega. In the 90s, Carmelo established the winery headquarters in an old house that served as a winery for many years, now a site where an enotourism project is being developed to encourage tourism in the region. Their property covers approximately 700 hectares of scrubland, almond fields and vineyards, all of which are sheltered by the nearby mountains, which create climatic conditions that include a reduced risk of frost and a controlled level of humidity in the summer. This set of features and factors, together with the characteristics of the soil (pebbles, low organic matter), creates a unique grape-growing microcosm, which has allowed them to develop the “village wine” style they are looking for to define the wines of Tudelilla (the village where they are situated in the heart of the Rioja Baja region).. A blend of 90% Garnacha and 10% Viura, this wine has ripe and floral notes, with hints of tropical fruit (grapefruit, passion fruit and orange peel). Serve as an aperitif or cold dishes.
Protos Verdejo

Verdejo is effectively unique to Spain, and specifically to the Rueda region. It's dominated by citrus flavours that include lemon/lime and grapefruit, along a hint of salinity and a pleasant almond note that often develops after a few years in bottle. This one is aged on it's lees for 3 months, all in stainless steel tanks. It's a brilliant seafood wine, particularly with delicate white fish and the bivalve family (oysters, mussels, clams).
