The base of the whisky, Japanese single malts and grain, have been matured in American oak casks. The dressing is the more rare and complex Sherry and Mizunara (Japanese oak) notes. The single malts have been sourced from Hakushu and Yamazaki and the grain whiskies from Chita. This is the first Suntory whisky made available in Canada in more than 2 years.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: clean, floral and grainy with a touch of juicy malt; delicate fruits, melon and kiwi with lots of vanilla and subtle spices.
Palate: juicy, fruity and floral with toasty American oak and rich spices (Mizunara?); lots of fruits here, more melon and kiwi, silky grains and chewy malt mingle with orange peel and vanilla bean.
Finish: long, toasty and silky with fading fruits, spices and sugars.
Comment: Japanese blends never seem to disappoint, and this one is no exception. It is very elegant and complex. Hopefully we get more than promissed...
Distiller's Tasting Note
Nose: rose, lychee, hint of rosemary, mature woodiness, sandalwood.
Palate: honeylike sweetness, candied orange peel, white chocolate.
Finish: subtle, tender long finish, with hint of Mizunara (Japanese oak).
Teeling Single Malt Irish Whiskey

This single malt is produced from the legacy stock the family took after selling their first distillery, Cooley, to Beam Global (now Beam Suntory). The whisky has no age statement but consists of whiskies of different ages, the oldest of which were laid down into oak in 1991. The whisky is matured in American oak but finished in five different wine casks: (Sherry, Port, Madeira, White Burgundy, Cabernet Sauvignon). The whisky is bottled at 46% without colouring or chill filtering.

Green Spot is a 7 to 10 year old Single Pot Still Irish whiskey made under license for Mitchell & Son of Dublin, an independent wine merchant. The whisky itself is made by Jameson/Irish Distillers. It is aged in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks.

From the Distillery
"Initially matured in ex-Bourbon Barrels from the famed Brown Forman of Kentucky and made from American Oak 200ltr (Quercus Alba) with a heavy charring.
We filled these casks with a mixed mash bill Single Pot Still distillate which included malted barley, unmalted barley, oats and rye. All of these grains are Irish and grown locally.
In collaboration with the famous Marsala house, Cantine de Vinci, we sourced a selection of Superiore and Fine Marsala Butts made from (Quercus Petraea) French oak.
We filled these beautiful casks with our bourbon matured Single Pot Still which has a real American Oak backbone of vanilla and honey and then layered on top are the characteristics of the French Oak spice and juicy citrus notes from the Marsala wine.
The label design is representing the Irish local barley that we use in our mash bills. There is also a reference to the cornflower which is also the colour of the text on the label.

The Gold Label from the Johnnie Walker line of Blended Scotch has a small but strong following, likely due Clynelish being one of its core components. The likes of Cardhu and Caol Ila also make up the base of this blend which contains a total of 14 to 16 different distilleries in its makeup. Much of the marketing talks about it being best served chilled, but that is entirely up to you. Bottled at 40% ABV.
