Unico Zelo champions Australian culture with playful, sustainable wines crafted from drought-resistant grapes for easy enjoyment and a fresh perspective on Australian wine. Bursting with ideas, they found a tiny spot at the Old Woollen Mills in the Lobethal - in the heart of the northern Adelaide Hills. Their winery was completed in 2021 and they purchased some vineyard land in 2022 (they were purchasing most of their grapes from other growers). The wines are naturally made and generally delicious.

Johannes describes his style: “You may have noticed our wines are a bit drier the last two vintages than they used to be,” said Johannes Selbach. “We know how to make reductive fruit-bombs that get high scores and stand out in big tastings,” he continued, “but the problem is everyone writes about those wines but nobody drinks them. We want to make wines for food, that people can use in their everyday lives.” The 2020 Alte Reben is juicy and bursting with stone fruits and citrus and a bottle tends to dissapear quickly.

Dr Loosen has been in the same family for more than 200 years and its present guardian, Ernst Loosen, is one of the great characters of the wine world. He assumed ownership of the estate in 1988 and immediately realised that with ungrafted vines averaging 70 years of age, in some of Germany's best-rated vineyards, gave him the raw materials to create stunningly intense, world-class wines. To achieve this, he dramatically reduced his crop size and stopped all chemical fertilization, preferring only moderate use of organic fertilizers. And, most importantly, he turned to gentler cellar practices that allowed the wine to develop its full potential with a minimum of handling and technological meddling.
The "Sundial of Wehlen" is one of the greatest vineyards in the Middle Mosel. The soil is almost nothing but broken shards of blue Devonian slate, which gives a lively minerality to the wines. Citrus and white peach flavours predominate when the wines are young, turning to a pure expression of the mineral soil as they age. 100% Riesling from vines of more than 100 years of age. Fermented with indigenous yeast in a 3,000-litre, neutral oak, cask; matured on the full lees for 12 months; no bâtonnage.

This is a 19-hectare estate centred in Verdigny, Sancerre, the greatest percentage of vines (90%) are grown on the iconic caillottes soil of Sancerre, which is a gravel-rich limestone-clay soil of Oxfordian origin that produces delicate and elegantly perfumed grapes. Denizot “grand cru” holdings of caillottes include parcels in les Bouffants, Côte de l’Épée, and Monts Damnés. The 8th generation winemaker ---Thibauld Denizotat, is known as the most talented practitioners of blending in Sancerre.
