Pierre-Henri Rougeot is a young vigneron with generations of family roots in the town of Meursault. He grew up learning farming and the craft of winemaking with his father and by studying in Beaune. In 2017, he decided to add one more activity, a small negoce where he could make wines his way. The fruits come from his family estate, vineyards which are farmed organically. The production is really small, one barrel here of one cuvee, two over there, max 4 barrels of Gevrey. Pierre-Henri makes his wines with little intervention meaning: no SO2 until bottling, no fining and no filtration. The reds are macerated with whole-cluster and age in neutral barrels; the whites are pressed directly in barrels, with no battonage and aging sur lees.

The story of the Maison Marchand-Tawse in Burgundy begins with the extraordinary story of Pascal Marchand, the French Canadian boy wonder, who in 1985 at 22 years old, took the reins of the Clos des Epeneaux in Pommard. This family began their adventure in Chablis as growers but that changed in 1979. Marine and Gervais began to sell the wines from the domaine in “feuilettes” (132-litre barrels, typical of Chablis) in Auxerre and Paris. Roland Lavanurteux was the first to bottle the wines in 1979 and it was at that moment that he gave his name to the domaine. Together with Brigitte, their parents then expanded the domaine from 5 hectares to 20 hectares and continued to develop the business in France and abroad. Since 2010, Arnaud and David have continued to write the domaine’s history with the enlargement of the cellar in 2012 in anticipation of the domaine’s new projects: Taking the reins of another family domaine (created by our maternal grandparents) in Bourgogne Epineul and Bourgogne Tonnerre. The first bottles from the 50+ year old vines were produced in 2020. They have also acquired new parcels in Chablis, notably in Chablis Premier Cru Vau de Vey.

The 8th release in Glenmorangie's Bond House No,1 range, was built around a parcel of whisky which was filled into virgin oak by Dr. Bill Lumsden in 1998, shortly after he took over as director of whisky creation. The virgin oak matured whisky was married with classic whiskies from ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks. The whisky has been bottled at 43% and 23 years of age.
