Words alone can't express how happy we are that this whisky hasn't been shuffled through half a dozen or so cask types before bottling, as is usually the way with Jura (and a few other brands under the family's umbrella). Ex-Bourbon maturation and more than two decades of slumber tell us that this saline little malt from the Isle of Jura's only distillery should be a real cracker. We also appreciate the 46.7% bottling strength.

An 18 year old "mystery Speyside" single malt from The Lismore. This is not a distillery, but a company bottling single malt from an undisclosed distillery. The company itself just happens to be owned by that family that also owns Glenfarclas Distillery... Bottled at 43% after 18 years.

Paul Zinck Gewurztraminer

Paul Zinck's wines have always been synonymous with great value and his Gewurz is no exception. This is a family owned winery in the small Alsace village of Eguisheim, just south of Colmar. Respect for the environment is part of the ethic of the Zinck family. For that reason, the winery is heading progressively towards organic agriculture on nearly all of the surface area. Today, the vines are grown respecting a belief in sustainable production, along with organic and biodynamic agricultural methods. In the Vineyard, the growth of natural grasses is encouraged in order to get the deepest root growth from the vines and also to deal with extreme weather conditions. The expression of the soil and the flavours it provides is optimal.

Lindores Abbey is one of the baby Lowland distilleries, only founded in 2017, but rich in history stretching back hundreds of years. We've told the tale a few times, so won't bore you again, but trust that this young'un is producing some great spirit already. The future looks bright. We've done a couple of tastings involving Lindores Abbey now, and the affection 'round here is only growing. This flagship expression - matured in Bourbon, Sherry, and Wine Barriques - is a real cracker for such a babe.

This is not a surprising release to see from Kavalan, we know they have great sherry matured whiskies, though I am little surprised they chose to bottle it at 40%... chasing the Dalmore crowd I suppose... ;) Regardless, I am sure it will be excellent, Kavalan whiskies rarely disappoint!

It's all about multiplying and enriching the sherry flavours to make a distinct whisky that has dried fruits, rich caramel, sweet maltose and tropical fruits as its profile. With its main character the dried fruits of the Oloroso cask, Triple Sherry is embellished with the sweetness of PX and Moscatel casks."
