Eve and Michel Rey produce natural, honest white Burgundy in miniscule quantities from the finest terroir in the Mâconnais. The Reys moved to Vergisson in 1988, as Michael was hired as a vineyard manager for a regional winemaker. From the soil to the cellar, Michel and Eve do everything by hand, and it’s just the two of them—such diligence and dedication is what makes their bottles so special. They don’t have tons of vineyards; they don’t overextend. While the word “artisan” is so often bandied about in wine, it is winemakers like the Reys who are true artisans, crafting with four hands works of vinous art, each and every vintage.
El Enemigo Bonarda

El Enemigo is a winery co-owned by Adrianna Catena and Alejandro Vigil, both of Catena Zapata fame. The winemaker calls 2018 "El Año Mendocino", the Mendoza Year. After a small cool vintage in 2017, which we call “El Año Bordelés” (the Bordeaux Year) and a small, very cool and rainy year in 2016 “El Año Bourguignon” (the Burgundian year), they finally got a vintage that is classically Mendozan: dry, cool, sunny and with moderate yields in every region from the lowest to the highest altitudes.

This Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey from Woodford Reserve is a different beast - not quite a Bourbon but also not a Single Malt Whiskey. Bearing the moniker Straight Malt Whiskey means that it has to use a minimum of 51% Malt, and it does exactly that with a mash bill also containing 47% Corn and 2% Rye. Like Bourbon, it is matured in Virgin American Oak Barrels that are heavily charred. Bottled at 45.2%.
Raasay Gin

This dry gin comes from the Scottish Hebridean Isle of Raasay Distillery, on the island of the same name. It is bottled at 46%.
Like many newer distilleries, Raasay’s first product out of the gates was a gin. This gin is created using 10 botanicals including juniper grown on Raasay itself, orange peel, lemon peel, rhubarb root, angelica root, coriander seed, liquorice root, orris root, and cubeb pepper. Some of these gingredients are steeped directly in the spirit still and the rest are infused using a copper gin basket.
