Edoardo Miroglio founded his production in 2002, after falling in love with the soil and climate of the Thracian Region. He works fully with organic vines, producing an array of lines. His EM line is his premium quality line, focusing on showing the complexity the terroir gives to the wine. Meinklang Graupert Pinot Gris

Made from biodynamic (organic) Pinot Gris grapes, the wine is aptly named 'Graupert' which translates to 'tangled' or 'wild', referring to the vines which are allowed to grow free and wild. Free-growing vines produce bunches with smaller grapes with less juice and thicker skins. This produces greater aromas, gives extra layers of complexity to the wine and even gives the wine its darker colour. This is not your usual Pinot Gris. Look for honey, pear and almond on the nose and a buttery, creamy texture with lively acidity, and fruity, mineral weight on the palate. Great with poultry, rabbit, port or vegetarian meals.

Intense laser-beams of acidity balance out the caramel notes here and the finish goes on and on for millennia. "Jacques Lassaigne is a 4.7-hectare family vineyard located in Montgueux. The vineyards boast prime southeastern exposure and consist entirely of Chardonnay. The Montgueux vineyard sites were originally held for the Montrachet of Champagne and are located near the gates of Troyes—the former capital of Champagne. This area is technically part of the Aube department, but is much further north than what people typically think of as the Aube, in the Cote des bars which features wines often primarily made from Pinot Meunier. The terroir in Montgueux is nearly identical to the growing sites found further north in le Mesnil, as they share the same limestone vein —this is exceptional terroir for making great champagne. An intense backbone of acidity is often present in these wines, but since it is located further south than the storied Cotes des blancs, ripening is not as much of an issue. The non-vintage Blanc de Blancs is a blend of nine different vineyard sites & two successive vintages."

Lightning Rock Pinot Noir Elysia

Pinot Noir from their vineyard was hand harvested on October 8th. The soils are mostly granitic but with pockets of limestone. They played around with different percentages of whole-clusters, ranging from 25-75% inclusion. After 21 days on skins the wine was pressed off into neutral barrel. Vines in the direction of Nolay, bought in 2014 – 2015 was the first vintage – from an 8 ha domaine shared with Sauzet – about 6km from domaine, vines on hillsides, over 400m with plenty of clay in this soil. Harvested about a week later than the vines around Chassagne – patience is always needed. – “It could go in the Bourgogne but I prefer to make two cuvées.”
Pretty, floral, instantly attractive. More drive and freshness. A hint of barrel but here is really an impressive width of finishing flavour, saline edged – this is excellent.’

Pierre-Yves Colin was born into the wine industry. His father, Marc Colin, who is a famed Burgundy producer himself, started Pierre’s winemaker career in 1994, when he asked him to work at the family’s domain. In 2005, he switched things up by creating his own wines from inherited vineyards. Since then, he has rapidly become of the top Burgundy producers using larger demi-muid barrels and eschewing the use of battonnage, makes each one of his bottlings a clear expression of its terroir and a study in mineral-driven Chardonnay. His wines get better and better with each vintage and so it's easy to say that he is not only one of the top domaines in Chassagne, this is one of the great winemakers and domaines in the world.
