Chateau de Fuisse Pouilly Fuisse
$68.99
Château Fuissé dates back to 1604 and has been in the Vincent family for five generations. Each generation has added land, increased quality and enhanced the worldwide recognition of the château. Today under the direction of Antoine Vincent, Jean-Jacques Vincent’s son, Château Fuissé has reached the pinnacle of quality in the region with its wines rivaling the more famous appellations of Puligny-Montrachet, Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault to the north.
The most famous vineyards of Les Brûlés, Les Combettes, and Le Clos surrounding the château are bottled as specific cuvées to showcase their unique terroir. Presently, both Les Brûlés and Le Clos are in review by the INAO for premiers crus designation. Currently, Mâcon is the lone region in Burgundy lacking even one premier cru. But if one (or more) of the region’s vineyards wins approval, such a designation will be the first-ever premier cru in the Mâconnais.) Château Fuissé also produces quality-driven wines sourced mainly from family-owned properties in the Mâcon under the Vincent Signature label. Each of these wines is produced with the same care and expertise as the domaine bottlings.
Lindores Abbey Casks of Lindores Bourbon
$94.99
Bottled at 49.4% from a parcel of whisky made from Fife Barley and matured exclusively in ex-Bourbon Casks from Old Forester & Woodford Reserve.
Producer Description
"The first “Casks of Lindores” bottling featured exclusively bourbon barrels, one of the three core cask types used at Lindores, and was limited to 11,000 bottles. These bottlings are bottled at the distillery without chill filtration and at an ABV strength of 49.4%. The Lindores spirit goes extremely well with bourbon casks and helps showcase its early maturing characteristic. The very long wash fermentation period in Douglas fir washbacks, coupled with the “Sister Spirit stills distillation” helps create a spirit that matures early but will continue to develop over time."
Dumangin Whisky Benrinnes 2008
$159.99
Gilles Dumangin doesn't make things easy on himself when he wraps his whiskies in wine. He has a habit of stacking the deck against himself by picking distilleries that boast some of the most challenging profiles in all of Scotch Whisky: Benrinnes, Ardmore, Fettercairn, Craigellachie. These aren't exactly the most mild-mannered of malts. It's a testament to the man's craft. I love the whole 'if you're going to swing, swing for the fences' mentality.
This Benrinnes spent 10 years in a Refill Hogshead before 23 months in Ratafia Champenois.
347 bottles. Natural colour and non-chill-filtered. 48%
Dumangin Whisky Craigellachie 2007
$167.99
One of Scotland's beloved, lumbering, and - let's face it - challenging distilleries smashes headlong into the delicacy of high end wine. Strange bedfellows, indeed. This is most definitely the most exciting of the newly-arrived Dumangin whisky releases.
12 years in refill Hogsheads before 15 months in an ex-Ratafia Champenois cask.
297 bottles. Natural colour and non-chill-filtered. 48%
Dumangin Whisky Bushmills 2014
$101.24
This one says its first maturation was for 6 years in (probably in ex-Bourbon) before a 12-month finish in a Ratafia Champenois Barrel. So...a seven-year-old then, rather than 6? Who knows? Maybe they were short a day or two somewhere in there. Either way, we love Bushmills. Especially when it comes from the indie bottlers.
282 bottles. Natural colour and non-chill filtered. 47.3%
Signatory 30th Annv. North Port 1981
$2,499.99
Distilled in 1981, this 30th Anniversary bottling from Signatory was bottled in 2018, at 57.2% after maturing 36 years in a Refill Sherry Butt. This is one of just a handful of whisky from the closed North Port Distillery--sometimes referred to as Brechin--we have ever had at KWM. 92 points Whisky Fun & 90.5 points Whiskybase!
Ridge Petite Sirah Lytton Springs
$63.69
From Ridge:
Lytton Springs, in Sonoma County, became part of the Ridge estate in 1991. A quarter century’s experience with this vineyard had convinced us that it was an exceptional piece of ground. The oldest Petite Sirah vines on our Lytton Estate were planted in 1901 and the youngest in 2008. We made our first wine from the property in 1972. In 2002, we began bottling portions of the Petite Sirah as a separate wine for a limited release, up until then it had always been included in the Lytton Springs Zinfandel. In 2003 we made another limited release and in 2009 our first national release.
From KWM: For many California wine lovers Ridge holds a special place in their hearts and on their palates. They make a wide array of wines from their two wineries, the original Monte Bello winery in Santa Cruz and the Sonoma winery in Healdsburg, and rarely, if ever, miss the mark. Chief winemaker Paul Draper is a legend, and deservedly so.
Good Day Lychee Soju
$11.99
Soju production begins with the fermentation of grain starch by yeasts and enzymes. Once the fermentation is complete, the liquid is distilled to produce clear alcohol. Finally, soju is bottled and typically has around 20% alcohol by volume. Good Day is the flagship Soju of Muhak, a Korean distillery established in 1929. Good Day Soju is filtered 10 times and actively infused with oxygen for 72 hours. This unique manufacturing process creates a very smooth and clean-tasting spirit. The fruit sojus are lower in alcohol at about 12%.
