Coravin Timeless Three Wine Pres. system

The Coravin wine preservation system has become the standard tool of the trade for wine importers and collectors alike. It allows you to draw measured amounts of wine from a sealed bottle while injecting a harmless inert gas blanket on top of the remaining wine. The claim is that it will preserve the wine for years, something we have not had the opportunity to put to the test, but there is no doubt the system works. Last week we tasted a top-notch Oregon Pinot Noir from Cristom that had been under Coravin gas for several months, and the wine was perfectly intact. The kit includes the Coravin Three, 2 gas cartridges, 2 screw caps (as there are now plenty of premium wines under screwcap) and one aerator.
Additional capsules can be purchased as well, allowing you to pour up to 15 five-ounce (150ml) glasses of wine. If someone feels like a glass of really good wine but doesn't want to commit to drinking the bottle, the Coravin system just might be the ticket.

In our stable of wines exclusive to KWM, Poggio Al Sole is like a favourite child; no one wants to admit they have one but secretly loves one just a little bit more. Poggio al Sole lies in the heart of Tuscany, in the bucolic countryside between Florence and Siena, between Tavarnelle Val di Pesa and Greve in Chianti. Documents in the archives of the nearby ancient abbey of Badia a Passignano testify to the claim that wine and olive oil were produced on this estate as early as the 12th century. Giovanni and Kathrin Davaz are the proprietors of Poggio al Sole, tending approximately 18 hectares of vineyards. The vines face south-east to south-west and are between 320 and 480 metres above sea level. Yields are kept low to improve quality, and the vineyards are certified organic.

The Grande Année blend comes only from a particularly fine harvest. When such a harvest occurs the House selects its best wines, cru by cru and grape variety by grape variety - the key to the particular year. Each wine is individually fermented in oak casks prior to blending. On average, the blend is composed of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay. Best enjoyed now, at any time of the day, with every meal!

Samsara is a new project from Priorat produced by the team of enologists Eva Escudé, Coca i Fitó and Trossos del Priorat in Gratallops. Samsara is an approachable, modern wine that brings Priorat to the palates of the world. Samsara is made from Garnacha (50%) and Cariñena (35%), with small amounts of Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, all of them from the Gratallops and Vilella Alta areas. The vines are 15 to 70 years old! The nose offers aromas of ripe red fruit, tangerine, light balsamic, and delicate spice.The palate is fresh and nervy with ripe supple tannins.

He sold the brand name to Moet & Chandon, which used it as the name for its prestige cuvée, which was first released in 1937.
