CINNAMON FLAVOURED BLACK TEA LEAVES
This 15 year old from the Highlands spent 12 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead before transfer to a 1st fill Limousin oak hogshead, and comes in at 56.4%.
Flavour profile: Spicy & sweet.
Outturn: 358 bottles.
Panel's tasting note: "An intense dark sweetness emerged from the glass like chocolate fudge with hints of chipotle chili, cinnamon and red pepper, a freshly varnished ebony cabinet or a chest of finest black loose tea. The taste neat stayed dark – cloves, peppercorns, cinnamon and plum black tea possibly served with a Sachertorte (dense chocolate cake with a layer of apricot jam and coated in chocolate icing).
Diluted it turned into a deep, dark caramel sauce with raisins and on the palate a sweet coffee liqueur over Morello cherries. After 12 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead we transferred this whisky into a 1st fill Limousin oak hogshead."

Boutique-y James E Pepper Bt.1 3 Year
$94.99
American Bourbon and Rye doesn't quite age in dog years compared to Scotch Whisky. At the same time, 3-year-old Rye Whiskey isn't hyper young by American Whiskey standards either. This James E Pepper 3-Year-Old Rye was originally sourced by that company from MGP of Indiana, then eventually bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Somewhere in between all of this, the Rye Whiskey spent time in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 50% with a total of 1622 bottles in Batch 1.
Producer Description: "Our first batch from J.E. Pepper is a 3 Year Old Rye Whiskey, a release of just 1,622 bottles at 50.0% abv. This is a 3 Year Old Rye Whiskey that has been finished in an Oloroso Sherry cask The Pepper family brand of whiskey is an iconic Kentucky whiskey brand initially produced during the American Revolution and continued through to 1958."
About the Label (Larger Label Under the Tasting Note)
"Our label is set in an old school soda float shop, where distillery owner Amir Peay is pointing to a barrel shaped soda fountain that pertains to the finish style of our whiskies. Did you notice the four large mason jars labelled Corn, Rye, Barley, More Rye, amongst the shelves of lots of yummy colourful sweets?"
Boutique-y Bourbon Whiskey 1 - 24 Year
$299.99
This 24-year-old Bourbon was featured on Day 18 of our 2023 KWM UBER Whisky Calendar. You can read Evan's post on it here.
Ever had a 24-year-old Bourbon? Well, this is your chance! Crafted by a mystery distillery. Could it be Four Roses? Barton? Buffalo Trace? Who knows?!? Wherever this was made it is heavenly, standing on hills above other Bourbons both in age and, well, price. The Bourbon in question purportedly spent 12 years maturing away in the US of A and the remaining 12 years in Scotchland. Bottled at 48% with a release of 8376 total bottles.
Producer Description: “Our first ever batch from this US distillery is a 24 Year Old Bourbon, a release of 8,376 bottles at 48% abv and our largest release to date! Sadly we’re not able to name this distillery, but it is a Bourbon, and so we’ll have to do some homework to establish which distilleries it could have come from.”
About the Label (Larger Label Under the Tasting Note)
Firstly there are no clues on our label at all, but any similarities to current bottlings are purely coincidental. Our label shows a peaceful scene at Area 51, complete with a sign saying "Nothing to see here", which has to be true. As we’re unable to name this long-aged Bourbon Whiskey we’ve covered our label in a few of America’s well-known mysteries. How many can you spot in our Area 51?
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon
$109.99
Batch 8523 of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof from Heaven Hill is botted at 62.1% and was aged for 11 Years and 5 Months before being bottled, which is just a touch younger than the 12 year age statement that used to grace all Elijah Craig Bourbon bottles.
