1792 Ridgemont Reserve KWM Cask
$62.99
Selected by and bottled exclusively for the Kensington Wine Market, a single barrel bottling of 1792 Ridgemont Reserve from Barton distillery. Hunter and I travelled down to the distillery in June of last year, and it has nearly taken a year for the whisky to find its way to Canada.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: big and nutty, butter tarts and pecan pie; loads of caramel: dark chocolate flowerless caramel tarts; orange and melons open up with some musty oak and rickhouses on a hot day.
Palate: big and rich, warming, spicy and decadent, lots of caramel and more butter tarts and pecan pie; earthy with silky oak and emerging fruits, orange, more melon and chocolate covered strawberries; demerara sugars and French coffee in a bodum.
Finish: long, rich, clean and warming, the finish like the palate is layered but silky.
Comment: this is a big Bourbon but balanced, layered but smooth; we know you are going to love it.

EH Taylor Seasoned Wood Bourbon
$112.49
Strictly limited to 1 per customer!
Only a tiny quantity of this highly sought after limited edition Bourbon are coming to KWM. This very unique Kentucky Straight Bourbon was matured in a variety of casks, including some built from staves matured in an enzyme rich batch at 100F. These seasoned staves were then kilned until they reached the right level of humidity. Other staves were air seasoned for 6 and 12 months before being coppered into casks.
From the Producer: "As founding father of the bourbon industry, Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. left an indelible legacy. His dedication to distilling began at the close of the Civil War when he purchased O.F C. Distillery. There, he developed innovative techniques that are still in use today. Made by hand, this Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey has been aged inside century old warehouses constructed by E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrels are evaluated and selected to create a perfect blend of distinctive character that is like no other. This bourbon is a true sipping bourbon that honors the uncompromising legacy of E.H. Taylor, Jr."
Producer Tasting Note: "Tastes of caramel corn sweetness, mingled with butterscotch and licorice. The aftertaste is a soft mouth-feel that turns into subtle spices of pepper and tobacco."
Doc Swinson's Forgotten One 16yr Bourbon
$589.99
SOLD OUT
Doc Swinson’s has stood out for us at KWM amongst a slew of other NDPs (Non-Distillery Producers) thanks to their consistently strong releases and deft cask finishing. This 16 Year Old Bourbon spent 12 years aging in the typical heavily charred virgin oak barrels. The whisky was then transferred to casks which once held Madeira for another four years. The folks at Doc Swinson’s weren’t planning for this project to become a 16-year-old, but then the Covid hit the fan and the production of hand sanitizer pushed all other concerns to the side. That is the reason for this release being called the Forgotten One.
Bottled at 49.35%. Only 275 bottles, with 3 coming to KWM!
Koval Certified Organic Bourbon
$82.99
Woodford Double Oaked
$66.59
One of the highlights of my 2014 Kentucky Bourbon tour, this Woodford is a Scotch drinker's Bourbon. After maturing in new American oak the whisky is reduced back down to 55% and then put in a finishin cask for up to a year. It is then bottled at 45.2%.
Distiller's Tasting Note
Aroma: Rich notes of dark fruit, caramel, sharp honey, chocolate, marzipan and toasted oak.
Taste: A full-bodied mix of vanilla, dark caramel, hazelnut, apple, fruit and spices.
Finish: Long and creamy with lingering hints of honeyed apple.
Wild Turkey Master's Keep
$179.99
Bottled at 43.3%, this is one of the older Bourbons we see in our market, and the oldest ever bottled by the distillery. We find Bourbon doesn't mature past 10 years as well as some other spirits, something to do with the virgin oak they must use to age the spirit. Having said that Wild Turkey's stone rickhouses are said to be more forgiving.
From the Distillery: "At 17 years-old and hand-selected by Master Distiller Eddie Russell for its perfectly balanced flavor, Master’s Keep is the longest-aged whiskey released by Wild Turkey in the United States. Aged in both brick and wood rickhouses and at 86.8 proof, it starts out smooth and silky, transforms into a caramel, vanilla sweetness, and finishes with savory spiciness and oak."
91pts Whisky Advocate: "A very pricy (for Wild Turkey) 17 year old whiskey honoring master distiller Jimmy Russell. Nose is hot for the proof, with oak, dried barrel drool, warm dried corn, tobacco barn, and teaberry. Entry is not hot; rather, a thread of sweet syrup spreads out into thoroughly integrated corn and oak. Finish slides into drier oak. A fascinating journey through bourbon flavors, this is both lighter and more complex than expected. I still prefer younger Wild Turkey, but…" (Fall 2015) Reviewed by: Lew Bryson
