Macbeth Collection Cambus 31 Year
$469.99
Part of a massive 42 bottle collection of whiskies, wherein each release represents a character from Shakespeare's MacBeth. Neat. Unquestionably a difficult set to build (ahem... sell your house to pay for it all?), but we'll be bringing in some of the cooler releases from the run. This is a Cambus matured in refill hogsheads. Only 650 bottles of this one.
Producer Note: "The First Ghost is one of six ghost distillery whiskies in The Ghosts series. “For The Ghosts, the link to silent, ghost distilleries was obvious and the selection of grain whisky offers a delicacy that reinforces the ethereal qualities of these apparitions. This is shown in the First Ghost to be revealed, a Single Grain Scotch Whisky aged 31 years, distilled at Cambus Distillery.”
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 46.2% abv.
Macbeth Collection BenRiach 31 Year
$766.99
Part of a massive 42 bottle collection of whiskies, wherein each release represents a character from Shakespeare's MacBeth.
31-year-old BenRiach matured in American Oak Refill Hogsheads. You've probably heard us wax poetic about how much we love these types of casks. This BenRiach should be a cracker! 88.7pts on Whiskybase
Producer Note: “For Menteith, a nobleman who marched to oppose Macbeth, we have selected a malt from the ruggedly beautiful Benriach Distillery, which shines bright in various woods. It is a treat to find it so perfectly expressed, aged 31 years, in these high-quality Bourbon barrels: all the hallmarks of a classic fruit-driven, floral Benriach, with rich caramel and cinder (a nod to the dark) delivered by the casks.”
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 53.1% abv.
Macbeth Collection Glen Garioch 31 Year
$825.99
Part of a massive 42 bottle collection of whiskies, wherein each release represents a character from Shakespeare's MacBeth.
This 31-year-old Glen Garioch was matured in American Oak First Fill Bourbon Barrels. One of the most interesting releases in the range. 89.67pts on Whiskybase
Producer Note: “There is complexity in Angus, who is among the thanes who switch allegiance from Macbeth to Malcolm over the course of the play. Our choice of distillery here, Glen Garioch has a fascinating tale of its own - the early 1990s saw a return to slower production that you can taste in the weight of the spirit. Florals and spices are balanced and tempered by the unctuous mouthfeel.”
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 54.6% abv.
Macbeth Collection Linkwood 31 Year
$825.99
Part of a massive 42 bottle collection of whiskies, wherein each release represents a character from Shakespeare's MacBeth.
Linkwood is a 'top dressing' malt. Roughly translated, that means 'hella good'. Actually, it means that blenders covet this rich and vibrant malt for their blends because it has an incredible fruity, and sometimes floral, profile. This 31-year-old was matured in American Oak Refill Bourbon Barrels. 89.79pts on Whiskybase
Producer Note: “Linkwood is an all-time favourite distillery and it was a thrill to find a 31 year old expression of this Speyside Single Malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1991, that worked so perfectly for Lady Macduff – although I would probably have had to rewrite Macbeth if there wasn’t a place for this amazing whisky.”
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 48.2% abv.
Macbeth Collection Ardbeg 19 Year (Islay
$601.99
Part of a massive 42 bottle collection of whiskies, wherein each release represents a character from Shakespeare's MacBeth.
From an Islay distillery that rhymes with 'Schmardbeg'. Matured in Pedro Ximenez Butts. 88.41pts on Whiskybase / 91pts Whisky Fun
Producer Note: “We’re launching with a smoky Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky aged 19 years for the First Witch - this is a fantastic example of a distillate I adore with quite a rich maturation. As we develop The Witches, we’ll embrace the blending analogy with the fourth release, Hekate, ruler of the witches, as a blend of the first three.”
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 51.7% abv.
Macbeth Collection Ledaig (Mull) 18 Year
$345.99
Part of a massive 42 bottle collection of whiskies, wherein each release represents a character from Shakespeare's MacBeth.
Evan has just announced out of the blue that his favourite Macbeth character is the First Murderer, which even for him is an odd choice. That could only mean that this is a bottle of Ledaig.
This one is bound to be beastly. American Oak Hogsheads should allow the Ledaig-ian character to shine through nicely. 88.41pts on Whiskybase
Producer Note: “The murderers travelled from the outer reaches of Scotland, so we have turned to island whiskies: a Single Malt Scotch whisky aged 18 years distilled on the Isle of Mull for the First Murderer. None of the Murderers (or Witches) are named in the play; we have carried through to the whiskies - no distillery names, just regions, to retain the air of mystery.”
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 50.5% abv.
Macbeth Collection Blair Athol 10 Year
$97.29
Part of a massive 42 bottle collection of whiskies, wherein each release represents a character from Shakespeare's MacBeth.
Blair Athol at a nice robust drinking strength, matured in Bourbon Hogsheads and Recharred Wine Casks.
Producer Note: “Thick and heavy, Blair Athol is a spirit that loves to perform in richerwood profiles. For the Bloody Sergeant, a hardy soldier loyal to King Duncan, we married bourbon hogsheads, bursting with vanilla and toffee, with ex-wine casks to build in layers of fruit and tannin, all accentuating the robustness of this Highland malt."
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 51.8% abv.
SMOS Marriage Islay Single Malt 30 Year
$539.74
Elixir Distillers can't tell you this is Laphroaig, rather that it is just from an undisclosed Islay distillery... but we are under no such restrictions! This is an excellent dram, at a very fair price for such an old Islay malt!
Producer Note: "This is a marriage of whiskies from 1990 to 1991, matured in just three casks, two American oak refill barrels and a refill sherry butt, which yielded a total of 1241 bottles. This is a wonderfully old-fashioned 30 year old Islay single malt - in the best sense of the word – from an undisclosed distillery. Aged in a combination of sherry and bourbon casks to create a seductive smoky whisky with spice and tropical hints." 89.83pts Whiskybase
Natural colour, non-chill filtered, and bottled at 47.5% abv.
