Our friend Igor - the fine gent who brings these Maltbarn releases to market on our side of the water - is a very judicious and discerning man when it comes to the whisky he imports. If memory serves, he may be as big a fan of Glentauchers' distillate as team KWM as well. When the distillery, the agent, and the brand are all top notch, it's easy to take the plunge on bottles like these.
It's worth noting, too: there were only 146 bottles from a Bourbon cask, which makes me think this may have been a split.

A 1997 single cask bottling from one of Scotland's oldest and most iconic distilleries. This Glen Grant from the Whisky Agency was matured in a Hogshead for just shy of a quarter century before being bottled in 2021.

Glen Garioch is one of those odd-man-out distilleries. It's actually quite widely known, but at the same time seems to be shamefully overlooked. The truth is that the core range is just ok. But if you want to peek under the hood and see just how much muscle Glen Garioch actually has, you have to turn to the independent bottlers nowadays. This Whisky Agency/Heads & Tails joint venture is case in point. You're not going to find a more pure representation than a single cask, matured in ex-Bourbon Barrels, bottled completely unadulterated, and at natural cask strength.
Specs: Distilled in 2009, bottled in 2021 at 12 years old. Natural colour, non chill-filtered, and 53.2%.

This 12 year old Speysider has an abv of 63.3%. At 10 years of age selected ex-Oloroso butts from the same distillery were combined; the single malt was then put into a 1st fill Spanish oak Oloroso hogshead.

Bruichladdich 2010 KWM Cask 2652

Our third exclusive KWM single cask from Bruichladdich arrived a few months back, but we decided to keep it under wraps for an October release. Distilled in 2010, the whisky was fermented and distilled from a mixed mash of publican, oxbridge, and optic barleys, before filling into a First Fill ex-Bourbon Barrel. 240 bottles of the whisky have been filled without colouring or chilfiltration at its natural cask strength of 58.8%, exclusively for KWM. Funny story about this cask... it wasn't the one we chose, that one was accidentally married with another cask at the bottling hall... but this lovely whisky is a more than suitable replacement!
