"Supporting rice farmers who protect the rich nature of Hokuto City, a town of pristine water, through beer brewing
Hokuto City, Yamanashi Prefecture, is a town of pristine water, selected as one of "Japan's 100 Best Waters." Rice cultivation has been carried out in this area since ancient times, using the abundant water. "Norin No. 48," which is grown only in a part of Hokuto City , has a stickiness and sweetness that you won't forget once you've tasted it, and has received high praise, even winning awards at international rice competitions, but is called "phantom rice" because the harvest is small and it does not come out on the market.
Cultivating the fields, maintaining the waterways, and continuing to grow rice also leads to protecting the irreplaceable water source. After hearing about the aspirations of farmers in Hokuto City who are striving to protect the rich natural environment by continuing and expanding rice cultivation while inheriting locally beloved rice varieties, we decided to support their efforts and last year we released a limited edition rice beer called "Far Yeast Moritomori RICE ALE." It received a great response and was exported not only domestically but also to China, Taiwan, and South Korea, where it was well-received as a "beer that lets you feel Japan."
