Along with Inchmurrin and Inchmoan, Inchfad is one of three "Inch"es and a slew of other names/labels made by Loch Lomond Distillery. Also like many of the styles of whisky made at Loch Lomond Distillery since it started production in 1965, Inchfad gets its name from one of the islands within the freshwater lake the distillery takes its name from. This Boutique-y Inchfad is 13 years old and bottled at 49.5%.

This unpeated yet feisty 63.4% ABV bottle from that Boutique-y Whisky Company features 12 year old Single Malt from the English Whisky Company. Filled from one ex-Bourbon Barrel, it is one of 272 bottles that have made its way out into the world, with only a handful coming to Canada.

"This is our 3rd batch, and the first commercially available 12 Year Old bottled from this distillery (there was a recent bespoke club bottling of 12 year old whiskies) Their 11 Year Old distillery release has recently been awarded English Whisky of the Year at The Wizards of Whisky Awards

The distillery was the first to produce whisky in England for over 100 years! The English Whisky Company led the new wave of English whisky makers when they released the first English single malt for more than a hundred years in 2009. Some of the best barley is grown in Norfolk, and the Breckland water is superb.

Their distillery is named ‘St. George’s’, but thea are known as The English Whisky Company - there was only one when they opened in 2006, and remained the only whisky distillery in England for some time. St George’s also the first whisky distillery Boutiquey-Dave ever visited, so he have a huge soft spot for this distillery"

Boutique-y Teaninich B6 12 Year

This robust sixth batch of Teaniich from That Boutique-y Whisky Company weighs in at a respectable 59.1% ABV. It is a from a combination of two refill sherry buts that were finished in an ex-Bourbon Barrel. I am not sure how that math works, but regardless! Only 421 bottles were filled, with a small portion coming to Kensington Wine Market.

"Peat and sherry is a great combo, though sometimes it can be a bit of a battle between two proud titans of flavour. Thankfully, this one shows off a welcome harmony that brings out the best of both. It's a marvellous variation of Seaweed & Aeons & Digging & Fire, featuring the same smoky 10 year old Islay single malt, though instead of just 25% of it being finished in sherry casks, the entirety of the whisky was finished in them. The powerfully peaty notes at its core are mellowed by just enough sherry sweetness, making for a superbly well-balanced flavour profile."

Nc'nean is a relatively new (2017) Scottish distillery in the Western Highlands. The 4th release from That Boutique-y Whisky Company is a 5 year old bottled from a single STR cask at 60.1%.

"Nc’nean is one of the new wave of Scottish farm distilleries. Founded in 2017 by Annabel Thomas, on her family’s farm at Drimmin, on the Morvern Peninsula in the Western Highlands. Nc’nean has been designed as the first fully organic modern distillery in Scotland powered by 100% renewable energy."

About the Label

"The farm distillery was designed by the late distilling consultant Jim Swan to produce a light, fruity and estery spirit. A character intensified by slow mashes, long fermentations, horizontal lyne arms, and shell and tube condensers, with a high, narrow spirit cut. Our 5 Year Old Nc’Nean is from a STR (shaved, toasted and re-charred) red wine cask, and bottled at natural cask strength We’ve gone for the classic ‘Whisky Galore’ for our label inspiration for this one. Founder Annabel Thomas is leading her whisky team, affectionately known as the ‘Quiet Rebels,’ up the rocks to their remote distillery on the Morvern Peninsula. That’s the Sound of Mull in the background. They’re carrying crates of whisky cunningly disguised as ‘Doug Treats’ (Doug is the distillery’s dog) and there’s the ‘mark of the Swan’ branded on the leading crate."

"This is a 19 Year Old single malt from a Highland distillery that we are unable to name. It’s our second release, the first was a custom bottling for a big supporter of Boutique-y Whisky in Canada; Kensington Wine Market in Calgary. What can I tell you? It’s from a single hogshead, probably the most
common cask in Scotland by a country mile, that was laid down in August 2000."

About the Label

"While we are not able to name the distillery on our label, being That Boutique-y Whisky Company with clearly recognisable labels gives us an opportunity to have some clues as to where this could have originated… Our label is a riff on ‘The Highlander’ movie poster that we liked. It had to be, didn’t it? For our characters we chose our highland cats from another of our labels. Our murderously brutal barbarian being The First Duke of Sutherland, controversial for his role in the Highland Clearances, and our immortal Scottish swordsman being our candle bearing cat. The ‘Can Has Only One’ is a reference to our cat meme source…Corny, shockingly bad punnage, and hilarious again!"
