"The distillery blazed a new trail in the whisky world in 2002, by creating the first ever pure buckwheat whisky in the world. “Eddu” means “buckwheat” in the Breton Language. Our ‘Eddu’ has been matured for 14 years, in French Limousin Oak. Buckwheat, a staple of Japanese and European cooking since ancient times, lends the spirit a distinctly earthy body. It's a huge commitment, as buckwheat is four times the price of corn, takes three times as long to mill and is heavy to mash."

"Yet another new label for our first ever back from Denmark’s Fary Lochan distillery. It’s a small family distillery, now run by three siblings, and their mother. The distillery is named after the lake on the plot and an ancient spelling of the town, Farre, it’s located in. Founder Jens-Erik Jorgensen, who sadly died in 2016, found inspiration from memories of smoked cheese from his mother used to smoke over fresh nettles. Jens-Erik made his first tests of smoking his whisky-malt with nettles in 2009."

"When we learnt that the distillery was located in the village of Farre (which was previously known as Fary) we had that far far away fairy tail image in our head, and so our label is based up on an old style fairy tale woodland glade and a small glistening lake."

This 3 Year Old Single Malt Swissky was matured in HighGlen’s signature 100 litre casks. A one Man operation, situated on the peak of a Swiss Mountain, heavily inspired by Scotland, and run by the larger than life character, Lord Gunter Sommer. Located in the village of Santa Maria, on the border of Switzerland and Italy, at an altitude more than twice that of Ben Nevis, the distillery has been built into his home."
About the Label
"All of the distillery equipment, apart from the still, was designed and built by Gunter. The power source for the distillery is an array of solar panels on the roof. Gunter primarily uses specially coopered 100 litre casks made from Ex-Bourbon staves, and Ex-Sherry heads."

"This, our second batch is another 3 Year Old and hails from a new American oak cask, to the heaviest char available, also known as ‘Crocodile Toast’ as the inside of the cask is charred so deep that it resembles the cracked skin of a crocodile. Our first batch from this Bavarian distillery was awarded a Gold medal at The Spirit Business World Whisky Masters, and has always surprised people when told; where it’s from, and how old it is."

"Our label features a scene from a Bavarian beer festival, in October, or Oktoberfest if you will. That’s Slyrs’ head distiller Hans with the whisky glasses, and you might recognise the punter with a bottle of this bottling asking him a question."

This lightly peated 3 year old Finnish single malt is the 2nd release of Teerenpeli from That Boutique-y Whisky Company. Matured in re-coopered American oak before bottling at 55.5%.
Producer Description
"You wait years for the first batch from Finland’s Teerenpeli distillery, and then two turn up in in the last two outturns! Our second batch is a 3 Year Old malt has had its full maturation in recoopered American oak ex-Bourbon hogshead, and comes across as lightly peated. Malted barley is sourced from local company Viking Malt (Lathi), grown no more than 150km from the site. Casks are matured in 40 foot ex-reefer sea containers, which sit outside the distillery, with no heating or cooling. Outside temperatures vary wildly throughout the year, from -35C to +30C."

"Teerenpeli translates to ‘flirtation’ and also means ‘black grouse’. So we've made sure there’s a reference to both on the label. That’s Sales and Marketing Manager, Jari Mämmi, driving the Zamboni along the rows of shipping container businesses."

"Our twelfth batch from the Blair Athol distillery is a 21 Year Old,and comes from a marriage of two ex-Bourbon Hogsheads, distilled in February 1997. It’s been bottled at batch strength with an outturn of just 266 bottles. The central Perthshire town of Pitlochry sits on the banks of the River Tay and has had a distillery since 1798, making its plant one of the oldest legal whisky-making sites in Scotland."

"The Blair Athol distillery resides happily in the highlands, producing whisky for a number of blended whiskies, one of the most notable being Bell’s.The label sees a chap with a beard and glasses trimming the distillery's famous flora into some appropriate shapes. No, not otters - bells!"

From The Producer
"Built in 1817, Teaninich is a Highland single malt distillery. It’s quite unique-y really, instead of a mash tun, it uses a filter press to extract the sweet sugars from the malt. There is much mystery surrounding the distillery, so we did as all Boutique-y’s do and went to town on the label - see below.
The Label
Based on a true love story from many years ago about Captain Hugh Munro (founder of this distillery). He was shot in the head behind his eyes but, he survived! Unsurprisingly, he lost his eyesight as a result. His sweetheart was forbidden from marrying him due to his condition, so she married someone else. Despite their differing paths, she continued to love him and as her dying wish, visited the church to see him one last time."
