This is the second vintage 10-year-old bottled for Canada by GlenDronach, distilled in 2011, it replaces the 2009 vintage. Bottled at 43%, it was "matured in the finest Pedro Ximenez casks from Spain." The 2011 vintage is a darker and more stereotypical GlenDronach than the 2009 vintage bottling.

Nose: nutty with milk chocolate coated candied orange peel and Caramilk bar; stewed prunes, cigar tobacco and rum raisin.
Palate: soft and rich with building decadent baking spices; more milk chocolate, new leather and juicy tobacco; earthy with nutty sherry tones and Dutch licorice.
Finish: medium-long and sherried; more leather, spices, chocolate and tobacco.
Comment: darker in both colour and taste from the 2011 bottling, but remarkably similar, which is not too surprising as both whiskies are 10-year-olds from PX Sherry, and both filled into cask in the Billy Walker era; a dram for those who love their sherry!
Producer Tasting Note
Nose: Sweet orange and bramble fruit with chocolate and nutmeg-spiced sultana.
Palate: A burst of red berry fruit compote and mandarin orange, softened by creamy, vanilla-rich milk chocolate.
Finish: Lingering currant and Morello cherry with barley sugar and traces of ginger.

Bottled at 46% the Hielan is composed of a mix of Ex-Bourbon & Ex-Sherry Casks. The name is a "a heartfelt tip of the hat to the extraordinary Forgue distillery, Glendronach’s spiritual home in the Highlands and one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries." We're not entirely sure what that means, but we'll take it as is. Looking forward to sampling it and providing our own tasting note.

Andrew’s Tasting Note
Nose: thick with chocolate, Kahlua and caramel flavoured Baileys; big notes of liquorice Jujubes, polished new leather and brand new rubber boots.
Palate: big, nutty, leathery and earthy; syrupy, juicy dates and more Kahlua; caramel sauce and more cream liqueur tones; the leather and spices build but also some waxy Strawberry Twizzlers; young but layered and rich.
Finish: milk chocolate coats the palate along with caramel Baileys and liquorice Jujubes.
Comment: this is a malt for those looking to get their sherry on… it is big, proud and unapologetic; very Dutch!

One of the new BenRiach bottlings released under the supervision of Master Blender Rachel Barrie, the new BenRiah 12 Year old is bottled at 46% ABV with no colouring added. It is matured in a combination of three different cask styles: ex-Bourbon, ex-Sherry, and ex-Port.

"To make the BenRiach Twelve, Benriach spirit is three cask matured for at least twelve years in sherry casks, bourbon barrels and port casks. The whisky from each cask is then expertly married together to create a smooth, sherry-rich single malt, layered with baked fruit, maple honey and cocoa, perfectly balanced with a lingering sultana and spiced mocha finish.

Matured in a mix of 20% Ex-Bourbon, 20% First Fill Ex-Sherry and Refill casks and bottled at 43%. Glengoyne is a distillery that straddles the Highland/Lowland boundary. The whisky is unpeated and generally influenced by sherry notes.
