Part of the first release of official The GlenAllachie bottlings since Billy Walker & Co. took the helm. Only a small amount are coming to Canada of this cask strength bottling. Bottled at 57.1% it was matured in a mix of American, PX, Oloroso and Virgin oak.
Evan's tasting note on Batch 2
Nose: big cereal and grain, newly sanded lumber, peaches and cream, pickled ginger, sliced pears, sesame seeds, cake fondant and white chocolate.
Palate: juicy and creamy with lots of fruit and big spice notes at the front along with beer nuts, cashews, toasty and also green oak, honeydew melon, pineapples, sweet Thai chili sauce and spicy ginger.
Finish: spicy but sweet with a nutty note thrown in. It creates a warming sensation with a pleasant creaminess on the fade.
Comment: the spice is big but the sweetness and helps tame it. It tingles the tongue but stays deliciously approachable.
Distiller's Tasting Note
Nose: Big notes of heather honey and toffee, with rose hip and spices tip-toeing in.
Palate: Honey, vanilla, toffee with a layer of rose hip, marmalade and Caribbean spices.

The GlenAllachie 12 Year is one of the newly independent distillery’s first core releases, alongside a cask strength 10 Year, 18 Year and 25 Year. As with the BenRiach Distillery Co.’s whiskies, Billy Walker has opted to bottle at 46% without colouring or chill-filtering. That tugs at our heartstrings!

"Built in 1967 as a small compact distillery, GlenAllachie was the fourth distillery designed by William Delme-Evans. The complete whisky making process was gravity fed and combined with unusual horizontal condensers it was a triumph of engineering and design.
Fast forward 50 years and we’re reaping the benefit when we bring you the GlenAllachie 25 year old. A combination of Pedro Ximinez and Oloroso casks specially selected by our Master Distiller Billy Walker and bottled at a slightly higher ABV of 48%."
