Tasting Notes

​Andrew' Tasting Note

Nose: very tropical, creamy, elegant and toasty; juicy fruits and orange, creamed heather honey, soft leather and coconut icing sugars; very orangey, candied orange and marmalade.

Palate: long, coating, creamy, fruity and juicy; loads of heather honey, more vanilla icing and big toasty oak; dried pinapples, mango, pineapple and papaya, the orange is still present too, lots of layers and depth.

Finish: long, coating, juicy and fruity; creamy notes, vanilla and tropical fruits.

Comment: surprisingly given the fact it is an older whisky, the 21 year doesn't feel as woody or bitter; a steal at the price!

Distiller's Tasting Note

Nose: alluring, medium sweet aromas of heather honey and macadamia, followed by a fruity orange softness with hints of beeswax and vanilla.

Palate: full-flaoured and medium-bodied with touhes of Seville orange, honey, oak and a trace of peat.

Finish: long, spicy and elegantly drying with a whiff of smoke.

Whisky Advocate Tasting Note: "Similar in flavor to the Aberfeldy 12 reviewed below, but with more depth. There’s more orange rind in the marmalade notes, along with Clementine and coconut. The whisky finishes drier too, with a spicy flair. Still quite clean and nicely balanced throughout. A whisky for those of you who want a fun whisky that’s not heavy on the palate."
