As one of our favourite Laherte wines this is an extremely unique blend using all of the permitted grapes within Champagne. In the words of the winery "Our ancestors already cultivated the vine many centuries ago. Working methods and grape varieties were different at that time. However, we found those lost grape varieties again in our old plots and we have decided to recreate a former plot in order to taste a wine of Champagne with the same taste as 250 years ago again…"
This blend is also unusual in two respects: first, it’s a solera dating to the first harvest of these young vines in 2005; secondly, the vines in question represent a field-blend consisting of 18% Chardonnay, 18% Meunier, 17% Pinot Blanc, 15% Petit Meslier, 14% Pinot (Noir), 10% Fromenteau (a.k.a. Pinot Gris), and 8% Arbanne.
Antonio Galloni : "Intensely perfumed and bright, Les 7 showcases striking interplay of aromas, flavors and textures. Citrus, white orchard fruit and sweet, perfumed overtones all
develop in the glass." 92 / 100
If you don’t feel as though you have been profoundly refreshed and your salivary glands tapped out after a couple of glasses of this, then I don’t know what libation could have that effect. Aurélien Laherte is one of the hottest growers in Champagne today.
