The 5th edition of the 100% Islay is a vatting at 50% of Ex-Bourbon barrels from 2009 & 2010. The 100% Islay line is from estate grown and malted barley, bottled on site.
Andrew's Tasting Note
Nose: fresh and creamy, horses stables, salt water marsh grasses, fresh cut wood, lemon oil snd soft earthy peat; becomes more creamy with vanilla and licorice;
Palate: very creamy and fresh, more barnyardy notes with braley sugars and moderately smoky medicinal notes; very creamy, more leamon and building smoke with spices; lots of licorice and a touch of tar;
Finish: long, coating, creamy and very fresh with fading elegant medicinal smoke;
Comment: soft and decadent, very smooth for its age.
Distiller's Tasting Notes
Nose: Light, fresh and clean with peat smoke in the background.
Palate: Light, fresh and well balanced with peaty smoke and sweetness coming through on the finish.
Finish: Long, clean and sweet with soft peat smoke.
