Made from an obscure white grape, Jacquère (Typical Varietal from Savoy), this wine shows a bright white and straw yellow colour. The nose provides subtle aromas of ripe fruits (pears, grapefruit…). You will also feel notes of fresh butter and soft spice flavour creating an interesting complexity. It is fleshy and has a slight woody taste. On the palate, this wine is well balanced by a natural acidity creating a nice freshness. The finish has roasted almonds flavour.

The Cuvee de Silex from Domaines des Aubuisieres is made from fifty year--old Chenin Blanc vines in the Loire Valley. Soils for 'Cuvée Silex' are exclusively flint stone (silex in French means flint), imparting a smoky, mineral essence to the wine. Look for a bouquet of pear, green apple, quince, and melon that develops notes of mineral and honey. The wine is ever so slightly off-dry, which lends it a juicy freshness. Expressive and exceptionally well balanced on the palate with lots of lemon and a trace of anise. Great with turkey, spicy Asian dishes and salmon.

In perhaps the most significant change of ownership in Vouvray since the Hwang family took possession of Domaine Huet, Bernard Fouquet has handed over the running of his domaine to a young associate, Charles Lesaffre. The handover of responsibility was a little more rushed than originally planned; the gradual transition suddenly accelerated during the Covid-19 pandemic, Charles essentially taking over at the time of the 2020 harvest, with a formal handover coming in 2021, hencve the name change from Fouquet to Aubuisieres.
