This Pinot Noir was made with grapes sourced from carefully chosen vineyard sites in the Twenty Mile Bench sub-appellation. These vineyards, situated near the winery, are well-suited for producing elegant, classic Pinot Noir that demonstrates what makes this part of Niagara so special.
Cloudsley Cellars is dedicated to creating Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Niagara, Ontario. The cool climate and limestone soils found in this region create an environment ideally suited to making a classic, elegant wine that brings out the best in these noble varietals. It’s a deeply personal project, unmotivated by consumer trends yet informed by over 20 years spent tasting world-class wines. It's inspired by a love of Burgundy, but squarely focused on this stretch of land that intrigues and beguiles wine lovers. Formed by passing glaciers, the soils of the Twenty Mile Bench tend to be made up of deep clay and till, with a large amount of limestone and shale. These soils tend to be moderately well-drained, with the rolling topography and the varying slopes of the escarpment aiding this. The varying elevation and slope, along with the circulating lake breeze, moderate temperatures, ensure gradual warming in spring and cooling in fall.

From an average of 40-year-old vines. Brimming with high-toned, youthful aromatics, Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir leads with crunchy red fruits of pomegranate, wild strawberry, and sun-warmed raspberry. The exuberantly fruity nose is undergirded with orange zest, black tea, tea rose, and faint hints of clove and spice. The bright, vivacious palate carries a taut mineral streak through to a lengthy finish lifting the red fruit notes with a whisper of anise.

Made with 100% Chardonnay grapes, the wine was barrel fermented using wild yeast. It was matured for 18 months in French Oak (24% new) before bottling.

Ghost Rock Wines was established by Cate and Colin Arnold in 2001 on a run-down property just East of Devonport, with only a handful of vines. Fast forward to 2015, Cate and Colin’s son Justin and his wife Alicia joined the business, taking on full ownership in 2017. Justin and Alicia run the operation together, responsible for the winemaking and running of the Cellar Door and Eatery, respectively.

Bianka and Daniel and Bianka (the d.b.) took over the Weingut Schmitt in 2012 as the fourth generation to lead the winery. They are based in Wonnegau in the south Rheinhessen, centred in Flörsheim-Dalsheim. All of the vineyards are in Flörsheim-Dalsheim and neighbour villages of Monsheim and Kriegsheim. Bianka and Daniel have been working their 16 hectares biodynamically for over a decade and are one of only 80 producers in Germany to be Demeter certified.
